Of the eight machines on this part number, the Multistrada is the one that will run the most hours in a year — and hours are the unit in which the unwelcome half of this trade is charged. A flow rating is called upon in seconds. A mesh size applies to every minute the engine is running. On a motorcycle bought to cover ground, those two quantities sit further apart than they do anywhere else in the family, and that gap is what this listing has to be honest about.
Key Features
- Dry polyester weave, supplied without oil and kept without oil for its whole working life
- Racing specification of 85 µm and 15,000 l/m²/sec, the highest flow rate Sprint Filter publishes
- Under measurement it held back 95.22 % of 100-micron particles, against 93.13 % for the P08
- Roughly twice the filtering surface of other performance elements, packed into the standard frame
- Fits the series airbox exactly as the paper panel did: no modification, no ducting work, no remap
- Serviced and reused instead of ordered again, made to last the bike, two years of warranty from purchase
Continuous exposure, occasional benefit
An element loads in proportion to the air that has gone through it, so a touring machine reaches any given state sooner than a bike of the same capacity used at weekends. That is an argument for a washable filter and a reason to like this one. It is not an argument for the racing weave in particular, because the thing distance does is multiply the hours during which a more open mesh is doing its work, while adding almost nothing to the brief moments when a high flow rating pays for itself.
What the catalogue offers for this airbox
Three media are listed for the Multistrada V4. The P08 at 80 µm and 5,050 l/m²/sec is the road and track cloth and the sensible default for a bike being ridden across countries. This racing element is the step upward in flow, and it earns its keep only where a large demand is sustained rather than touched. In the other direction sits a T12 at 7 µm and 560 l/m²/sec, built for extreme conditions, where roughly a ninth of the flow is given up deliberately in exchange for retention. Finer or coarser is a trade in both directions, and none of the three raises the output of a standard machine.
Care and cleaning
Cleaning is done with air rather than chemistry. Hold the nozzle to the clean side of the PM160S F1-85 and work outward so the dirt leaves the way it entered. When a long dusty stage has left more than air will move, lukewarm water and a mild soap will finish the job, rinsed until the water coming off runs clear. Drying happens in moving air and only there — heat is what ruins polyester, so nothing hot and nothing burning goes near it — and the dry element goes straight back into the box.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Ducati Multistrada V4, V4 S and V4 S Sport built from 2021 to 2026, all of which take the same element. Eight Ducati V4 machines share the part number in total, and the model years for each are listed in the Fitment tab. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
