Three kilos, from one part. The standard collector on an Africa Twin Adventure Sports weighs 4,7 kg; Spark's AISI 304 racing manifold weighs 1,7. It is the single biggest weight saving available anywhere on this motorcycle's exhaust.
Key Features
- Racing collector in AISI 304 stainless steel.
- 1,7 kg against 4,7 kg for the standard collector.
- Adventure Sports version only — not for the base Africa Twin.
- Works with Spark silencers, the original silencer, or any aftermarket silencer.
- 97,5 dB at 3750 rpm with the original silencer (standard bike: 91 dB).
- Racing part — Spark lists it as not approved.
Adventure Sports Only
Spark is unambiguous and so is this listing: the manifold fits the CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports, not the base Africa Twin. The two machines route their exhaust differently and the collector is not interchangeable between them.
There is a second restriction that catches people out — the article is not compatible with Honda's own Front Side Pipe Easy Kit accessory. If that kit is on the bike, it comes off.
Where the Three Kilos Are
The standard collector on this motorcycle is not simply a pair of pipes. It carries the catalytic converter, its housing and its heat shielding, and all of that sits low and forward, under the engine. Spark's replacement is bare AISI 304 tube with the same routing and none of the contents.
Three kilos taken from that position does more for how the bike steers than the same three kilos taken from the silencer would.
Modular by Design
Spark builds this collector to sit behind whatever silencer is already there. It pairs with the Fighter Evo and Dakar slip-ons, with the standard Honda silencer, and with an aftermarket can from another manufacturer.
That makes it the cheapest way to get the weight off without touching the visible end of the exhaust, and it means the collector can be bought first and the silencer decided later.
The Noise Figures Are Spark's Own
A standard Adventure Sports measures 91 dB at 3750 rpm. With this collector and the original silencer still fitted, Spark measured 97,5 dB at the same engine speed.
Six and a half decibels is a large step, and it is worth knowing before ordering that the collector changes the character of the bike considerably even with the standard can in place.
Remapping
The original muffler guards can stay on. Spark recommends remapping the standard ECU after fitting — not as a requirement, but as the way to get the performance the manifold is capable of. Without it the bike runs, and it runs richer than it should.
Fitment & Compatibility
Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports, 2020 to 2023. Not for the base Africa Twin. Not compatible with the original Front Side Pipe Easy Kit accessory. Combines with the Spark slip-ons GHO1702TOM, GHO1702BOM, GHO1703TOM and GHO1703DOM, or with the standard silencer.
Road Approval
None. Spark lists this collector as not approved. Closed course use only — it replaces the catalytic section the motorcycle was type-approved with.
