Orange end caps on a Duke are not a subtle choice, and Spark knows it. This is the top version of its Euro5+ kit for the middleweight KTM: two Dyno silencers mounted high, with the milled end cap anodised in the factory colour.

Anodising, Not Paint

The orange is anodised into the aluminium, which means the colour sits in a converted surface layer rather than on top of one. It does not chip at the edge of the outlet, and it does not lift where the cap runs hot. That is the practical argument. The other argument is that it matches the frame on an orange KTM in a way a painted cap never quite manages.

The End Cap Is the Product

Spark machines the Dyno's bottom plate on a five-axis CNC and mills the end cap as a separate exercise: the perforation takes weight out, and the internal and external radii are cut to different values so the light breaks across the face rather than flattening on it. Spark calls it a technical and aesthetic element, which is marketing language for an expensive way to finish a silencer.

What Orange Costs

1,298 euro, against 1,177 for the same kit with black anodised caps and 1,154 with carbon ones. The orange is the dearest of the three by 144 euro over the carbon, and the kit underneath is identical in all three. You are paying for the finish and nothing else, which at least makes the decision an honest one.

Where the Dyno Came From

Spark developed the Dyno silencer alongside the arrival of the DUKE 990 and the SUPERDUKE 1390, and then brought it back down the range. It replaces the Grid-O as the current offering for the 790 and 890 - Spark describes the Grid-O kits as the previous Euro 4 generation.

Installation

Slip-on level. The kit connects to the original catalytic manifold with stainless-steel fittings and junction, so the catalytic converter stays on the motorcycle. Spark supplies the holders and all mounting parts needed to fit it with the passenger footrests in place, and also includes the holders for running the bike without them.

Care: do not clean with aggressive products. Degreasers and car-wash chemicals attack the anodised and machined surfaces.

Fitment & Compatibility

KTM 790 Duke, 890 Duke, 890 Duke L and 890 Duke R, 2018 to 2024. The same kit with black anodised end caps is GKT0119TOMN and with carbon end caps GKT0119TOMC. The earlier Grid-O kits are GKT0110TOM at 215 mm and GKT0115TOM at 175 mm.

Road Approval

Homologated to Euro5+. Spark states compliance with the Euro 5+ regulation and lists the article as approved, with the standard catalytic converter remaining fitted.
