DescriptionThe whole story▼
Born from the same philosophy that shapes SC-Project's MotoGP programmes, the GP70-R slip-on for the Yamaha YZF-R1/M RN32 is a statement of intent as much as a performance upgrade. Its retro-inspired 70 mm outlet, T.I.G.-welded titanium joints and laser-etched SC-Project logo give the system a visual identity that is unmistakably race-bred — available in either natural carbon or raw titanium to suit the aesthetic of your build.
Key Features
- Retro-racing design with a large 70 mm outlet exit, available in carbon (Y11A-DET70C) or titanium (Y11A-DET70T) finish
- Saves 6.2 kg over the stock system (SC-Project system: 1.8 kg vs. OEM: 8.0 kg) for a dramatic improvement in handling agility
- Titanium cat-replacement connecting pipe removes the catalytic converter for unrestricted exhaust flow and maximum power delivery
- CNC-machined titanium sleeves ensure a precise, rattle-free fit on the Yamaha RN32 mid-pipe junction
- T.I.G.-welded titanium and carbon components deliver racing-grade structural integrity and heat resistance
- Compatible with the original pillion footrests — no fairing or rearset modifications required for fitment
Design, Finish and Heritage
The GP70-R carries SC-Project's long history of supplying exhaust systems directly to MotoGP and Superbike teams. The wide, circular outlet is a deliberate nod to the large-bore canisters seen in prototype racing during the early 2000s — a form that has since become synonymous with SC-Project's road-racing aesthetic. On the Yamaha YZF-R1/M RN32, the canister sits flush with the tail unit, complementing the bike's angular bodywork whether in track livery or stripped naked.
The carbon version (Y11A-DET70C) pairs woven carbon-fibre construction with the aggressive lines of the R1/M's tail, adding heat resistance and a visual contrast against the blue-and-white factory colour scheme. The titanium version (Y11A-DET70T) takes the opposite approach — a brushed, metallic finish that ages with character, growing lighter in colour with heat cycles in a way that is unique to each individual exhaust.
Performance and Sound
With the catalytic converter removed via the dedicated titanium connecting pipe, exhaust gas flow is no longer restricted, allowing the R1's 998 cc crossplane inline-four to breathe more freely across the rev range. Throttle response sharpens and mid-range torque delivery becomes more linear — exactly what is needed when chasing lap times.
The GP70-R produces 123 dB at 6,500 rpm. There is no db-killer fitted as standard; the system is engineered for pure racing use and is tuned to deliver the unfiltered, high-frequency howl that the crossplane engine is capable of producing. This is not a road-going compromise — it is a dedicated track system.
Construction and Materials
Every joint in the GP70-R system is T.I.G. welded by hand to meet SC-Project's exacting tolerances. The canister body — in either carbon or titanium — is shaped to manage heat while keeping mass to an absolute minimum. CNC-machined titanium sleeves at the connection points prevent micro-movement under repeated thermal cycling, which is a common failure point on lesser aftermarket systems. The laser-engraved SC-Project logo and included sticker kit complete the racing finish.
Fitment and Compatibility
This slip-on silencer and cat replacement pipe combination is developed specifically for the following motorcycle:
- Yamaha YZF-R1 RN32 (2015-2016)
- Yamaha YZF-R1M RN32 (2015-2016)
The system retains compatibility with the original pillion footrests. This is a race-only product and is not road-legal. FOR RACING USE ONLY.
