DescriptionThe whole story▼
On the Yamaha R1, the JP ACCGP YA033 adds a progressive return spring to the GP Series throttle, stiffening as the grip opens further, alongside the usual sixty-degree rotation and three external preload stages, without altering the crossplane inline-four's own factory calibration.
Key Features
- Yamaha R1 (2020–2024)
- GP Series ride-by-wire quick throttle with a sixty degree rotation angle
- Progressive return spring, preload adjustable externally in three positions
- CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075
- Plug-and-play on the motorcycle's own connector
- Standard throttle assembly refits at any time
A Crossplane Four's Particular Pull
Yamaha's crossplane crankshaft gives the R1's inline-four an uneven firing interval that produces a torque delivery closer to a V-twin's feel than a typical four-cylinder's, and throttle inputs that match that character tend to feel more natural than ones built for a conventional four.
Stiffening as It Opens
The progressive spring in this throttle resists more the further it opens, so the first portion of the stroke stays light while the final degrees push back more firmly, a curve that suits riders easing into a corner exit rather than snapping the throttle wide.
A Bike Shaped by MotoGP Development
Much of the R1's chassis and electronics thinking traces back to Yamaha's grand prix programme, and the bike rewards riders who treat throttle inputs as a continuous adjustment rather than an on-off action, which is where a progressive spring earns its place.
Three Preload Stages, One Spring
Beyond the spring's own progressive curve, its starting preload can be set across three external positions, giving the rider a way to shift the whole curve lighter or firmer depending on tyre temperature or how aggressive the day's riding is.
Sixty Degrees for Less Wrist Travel
Cutting the rotation to sixty degrees shortens the distance the wrist rolls between a closed throttle and one fully open, leaving the electronic sensor and its calibration exactly as Yamaha set them at the factory.
Fits Without Touching the Loom
The throttle installs at the R1's existing housing mounts without rerouting any wiring, and a diagnostic reset of the throttle position is the standard step to finish the job before the bike is ridden.
