DescriptionThe whole story▼
Multi-day enduros wear riders down in small ways before they wear them down in large ones, and the left hand is often the first place it shows. After several long days on a KTM 250 EXC Six Days, the palm and fingers that work the clutch can be sore, blistered and slow to respond, even when the rest of the body is holding up. Accossato's C7283 is listed for the 250 EXC Six Days from 2006 to 2022: CNC-machined from Ergal 7075, with room for all four fingers and a blade that can hinge forward in a crash.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the KTM 250 EXC Six Days, 2006 to 2022
- Listed for the 2006–2013 and the 2014–2022 bikes
- Replaces the stock lever at the original clutch mount
- Four-finger blade, the longer of Accossato's off-road designs
- Anti-break joint: the blade can fold forward if the bike goes down
- CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Black, blue, orange or red blade on a dark base
- No German ABE documented; for off-road and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
In 1985 Accossato won an enduro world championship, and the company's off-road levers are still produced in Italy today. For the C7283 it takes solid Ergal 7075, a very strong aluminium alloy, and mills it on CNC machines into a lever meant to be strong, light and reliable. It is made in two parts: a dark base fitted on the clutch pivot, which carries the joint, and a blade in one of four colours, black, blue, orange or red. The blade is long, sized by Accossato for four fingers.
Blisters by Day Four
Every day of a long enduro means hours in the saddle and thousands of clutch pulls. Gloves slide a little on the grip, the same spots on the fingers and palm take the load again and again, and by the middle of the week many riders are taping their hands in the morning. What was a relaxed two-finger pull on the first day becomes something to be managed: moving the fingers slightly along the blade, sharing the effort across more of them, using the clutch only where it is really needed.
Tired, sore hands also make mistakes, and later in a long event bikes go down more often. When the 250 EXC Six Days tips onto its left side on a rocky climb or a slippery descent, the clutch lever is first to meet the ground. The C7283's joint lets the blade fold forward instead of breaking at the tip, which gives the rider a fair chance of carrying on with a whole lever. That matters when there are still days to ride and only a limited amount of time in which to make repairs.
Fitment and Compatibility
The C7283 is listed for the KTM 250 EXC Six Days over a long span, 2006 to 2022, which Accossato splits into two version groups, 2006 to 2013 and 2014 to 2022; on both it fits the original clutch mount. The B8283 folding brake lever is available for the 2014 to 2022 bikes, so earlier Six Days models can take the folding clutch lever only. Red is offered on the clutch lever alone, while black, blue and orange are common to both.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the C7283. The 250 EXC Six Days is normally registered for the road, but this lever is not approved on public roads; it is meant for off-road and competition use.
