The World Raid exists to make the day longer. More fuel, more range, more distance between the places where a motorcycle can be looked after properly — and the intake side of the engine is the part of that equation nobody plans for. Fuel capacity grew; the service interval did not. On a long stage the limiting factor stops being the tank and becomes everything the bike has been breathing since the last time anyone opened the airbox. The Sprint Filter P08 CM148S is the element that turns that from a spare part into a ten-minute job with an air line.
Key Features
- Cleaned rather than replaced: a dry P08 polyester medium, washable and reusable
- No oil film to migrate downstream onto sensors or throttle bodies, because it is never oiled
- Filtration at 80 microns, with 5,050 litres per square metre per second of airflow
- A filtering surface roughly double that of other performance filters
- It sits in the standard airbox as a direct replacement, without modification and without a remap
- Sprint Filter design it to last the life of the motorcycle
Luggage you do not have to pack
Anyone planning a route measured in days rather than hours ends up making a list of consumables to carry, and a paper air filter is an awkward item on it: bulky, easy to crush, single-use, and useless once it has been fitted. A washable element removes the entry altogether. The service becomes compressed air where compressed air exists — a workshop, a tyre bay, a fuel station — and lukewarm water and mild detergent where it does not. Nothing has to be sourced in a country where this model was never sold.
Long stages are a filtration problem before they are a fuel problem
Restriction climbs as an element loads, and it climbs quietly. There is no warning light for it, and the effect on a large-capacity twin is not a number on a dyno sheet but a slightly lazier answer to a small throttle opening — precisely the input a rider uses most when the surface is loose. The honest claim for a drop-in filter is not extra power. It is a lower starting restriction and, more usefully, a restriction that can be returned to its starting point on the road. Where the going is genuinely dusty, Sprint Filter weave finer media: the P037 at 37 microns and the T12 at 7 microns retain more and flow less — 4,500 and 560 litres per square metre per second against the P08's 5,050. Finer is not better, it is a different trade.
Care and cleaning
Normal service is compressed air, entering on the clean side and leaving outwards. A deeper clean means a wash in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinsed until the water runs clear, and an element left to dry fully in open air — never with heat, never with a flame. It goes back dry, with no oiling step involved. The maintenance sheet from Sprint Filter is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
