DescriptionThe whole story▼

A Name With Weight
Daytona meant the 675 for most of two decades, a supersport machine that beat the Japanese fours on their own ground. Reusing it on a faired 660 built from the Trident was a decision Triumph must have argued about internally, and it has been divisive ever since.
Ninety-Five Horsepower, Deliberately
The 660 triple is retuned rather than reused, with more top end than the Trident and a spread that still works below five thousand revs. It is not a supersport engine and it was never meant to be; it is a fast road bike that will do a track day without complaint.
Clip-Ons Above the Yoke
Triumph mounted the bars above the top yoke rather than below it, which is what makes the Daytona 660 usable for more than an hour at a time. It also changes the angle at which the thumb meets the right-hand cluster, coming more from behind than a roadster's does.
Either Clamp Pattern
The universal plate takes both aligned and offset master cylinder geometry. On a bike bought partly on value, the front brake is a likely early upgrade, and this keeps the switch out of that decision.
What Milling Buys
A defined edge around each button that a moulding cannot hold, and a single-piece body with no clipped joint to develop play. The first is felt on the first ride; the second matters in the fifth year.
A Recent Model
The Daytona 660 reached dealers in 2024 and the aftermarket around it is still thin. Parts engineered for the bike rather than adapted from the Trident, which is a different motorcycle electrically, are worth taking when they appear.
