DescriptionThe whole story▼

Since 2017 the Z900 has been one of the most familiar four-cylinder naked bikes on European roads, and it is just as familiar in track-day paddocks. For some owners the circuit days lead to the next step, club racing, and with it a racing licence. Many clubs and federations ask newcomers to complete a licence course before their first race, and a Z900 is a sensible bike on which to take one. For the Z900 of 2017 to 2024, Accossato offers the FC126, an aluminium quick-release tank cap whose pawl pin you choose from six colours.

Key Features

  • Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Kawasaki Z900, 2017 to 2024
  • Made entirely of CNC-machined aluminium
  • Robust and durable according to Accossato
  • Quick-closing pawl for short refuelling stops
  • Pin colours: blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
  • Pawl sold separately as a spare
  • No German ABE documented; for the track

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato shapes the complete FC126 from aluminium on CNC machines and describes it as hard-wearing and durable. The design is new. Its quick-closing pawl opens and closes the Z900's tank quickly, which helps wherever the time between sessions is short, and the pin on the pawl is offered in six colours. Should that pawl be damaged, a replacement is sold by itself, so the cap remains on the bike.

The Licence Course

A licence course usually combines theory and practice. In the classroom, riders learn the flags, the start procedure, the rules for entering and leaving the pit lane and what happens after a crash. On track, the programme often includes practice starts, riding in a group at race pace and exercises in overtaking cleanly, and some courses end with an assessment by an instructor. The day is long and the sessions come thick and fast, so plan fuel as you would for a busy track day: bring enough in cans, refuel only in the permitted area, and do it early rather than in the minutes before a session. For a Z900 that is going to race, the course is also a good place to ask experienced riders how they prepare their bikes, from lockwiring the drain plugs to protecting the tank. The FC126 has no road approval, which suits a Z900 on its way to becoming a race machine, while a bike that still does road duty needs its original cap back afterwards.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the Z 900 for the FC126 from 2017 to 2024 in a single entry. The cap also appears in our catalogue under the Ninja 1000 SX and the Versys 1000. Please compare your bike with the application list before ordering; model years outside this range are not part of the entry.

Road Approval

No German ABE and no parts certificate are documented for the FC126, so it belongs on the track. The Z900's factory cap normally opens with the ignition key and goes back on before the bike returns to public roads.
