DescriptionThe whole story▼

The FZ1 Fazer has worn a good many paint schemes since the first litre Fazer appeared in 2001, and most owners know which details of their own bike they like. A coloured clutch lever is a small way to pick one of them up. The Accossato ESY688 is a machined aluminium clutch lever for the FZ1 Fazer, listed from 2001 to 2015. Its hub is always black, its blade comes in seven colours, and its reach can be set to your hand.

Key Features

  • Clutch lever for the Yamaha FZ1 Fazer, listed 2001 to 2015
  • Replaces the stock lever at the original clutch mounting
  • Reach to the grip adjustable
  • Standard blade about 138 mm in all colours
  • Short blades in blue, gold, green, orange and silver; long in blue, gold, green and orange
  • CNC-machined aluminium, anodised; black hub
  • Rigid blade, no hinge
  • No German ABE documented, sold for track use

Construction and Material Quality

Machined from a solid aluminium billet, the ESY688 is anodised in two zones. The hub stays black whatever colour you order, so the part next to the switchgear always looks like one of the bike's own controls. Only the blade takes the colour, and because anodising colours the metal itself, the finish keeps its tone without a clear coat on top. There is no joint between the pivot and the tip, and the lever moves as one piece every time you pull.

Borrowing a Colour From the Bike

The obvious way to choose a lever colour is to match the tank, but the result is often better when you borrow a colour from somewhere less obvious. On an FZ1 Fazer that might be the frame, the wheels, a graphic on the fairing or the stitching on the seat. If your bike has a silver or grey frame, a silver blade ties the lever to it; on a blue bike a blue blade looks deliberate; on a black or dark grey Fazer, gold or orange adds a single warm accent. Black keeps everything quiet. Because the hub is black in every case, even a bright blade reads as a detail rather than a statement. Think about the brake side too: the EDF016 for the Fazer comes in the same colours, and a matching pair usually looks more considered than a single coloured lever. One practical point: black and red are made in the standard length only, so if you want a short blade, choose from the other five colours; the long blade comes in four of them, all except silver.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's list places the ESY688 on the FZ1 Fazer from 2001 to 2015: the first litre Fazer of 2001 to 2005 and the FZ1 generation that followed from 2006, including N and S versions. It fits the original clutch mounting. The EDF016 brake lever is listed for the bikes from 2006 to 2015.

Road Approval

The ESY688 has no documented German ABE, so we sell it for circuit riding.
