DescriptionThe whole story▼
Long-distance riders on a 1290 Super Duke GT sometimes let the railway carry them through the dull part of a journey, and the short ride up the ramp and along the wagons of a car train then asks for more clutch control than the whole motorway leg before it. Accossato's ESM011, a clutch lever milled from aluminium with a reach adjuster, replaces the original on the GT and puts the friction point where your fingers find it without searching. It covers the model years 2016 to 2021.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the KTM 1290 Super Duke GT, 2016 to 2021
- Fits the original clutch mounting
- Distance between blade and grip adjustable
- Three lengths: short, standard (about 138 mm) and long, depending on colour
- Black and red as standard blades only; silver in standard and short
- Milled from aluminium on CNC machines and anodised
- One-piece rigid blade, no hinge
Construction and Material Quality
A CNC milling machine gives the ESM011 its shape, and anodising gives it two tones. The black hub is the working end, housing the pivot along with the adjuster that decides how far the blade rests from the grip. The coloured blade is the part your fingers pull, and because it is solid all the way out, the pull goes straight to the clutch rather than into a hinge. On the Super Duke GT this matters more at walking pace than at speed, since slow manoeuvres are where a lever is held halfway for seconds at a time instead of simply being pulled in and let out.
Onto the Car Train
Car-carrying trains are loaded along a narrow deck, usually reached by a ramp and sometimes with a low roof over the upper level. Where riders take their own bikes on board, it happens at little more than walking pace, and with a fully fuelled Super Duke GT and cases on both sides that is a balancing act. Let the engine run at a steady, slightly raised idle and give the clutch the work: out until the bike creeps, hold it there, back in the moment it wants to run on. A lever set close enough to be held at the friction point with two fingers makes this far less tiring, and the other fingers keep a firm grip on the bar. Some riders choose the long blade here, as its extra leverage lightens the pull. Take the ramp in first gear without stopping halfway, which is harder to restart from than it looks, and keep your head low under the upper deck. The same technique pays off on ferry ramps and in cramped hotel garages at the end of the day.
Fitment and Compatibility
The ESM011 fits the 1290 Super Duke GT from 2016 to 2021, on the clutch mounting that KTM installed. Accossato's catalogue entry reaches back further than the GT itself, which first appeared for 2016, and the product follows the bike's real launch. Its counterpart for the front brake is the EDF099, for the Super Duke GT from 2016 to 2024; both share hub and colours, so a matching pair is simple to put together.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the ESM011, which is why it is offered for racetrack use.
