DescriptionThe whole story

On an unfaired machine like the Hyosung GT650R the rider's own body is part of the braking load. ZCOO's answer is the N004 - the tallest friction face in the range - filling the Nissin caliper of the GT650R. For the Hyosung GT650R that means EX Race: race-level heat resistance without race-level disc wear.

Key Features

  • Ceramic sintering keeps the coefficient of friction stable across the temperature swing a GT650R sees in a single descent
  • Direct replacement for the standard Nissin pad on the Hyosung GT650R - no shims, no spacers, no modification
  • Developed on the same ceramic platform ZCOO supplies to endurance teams at Suzuka and the Bol d'Or
  • Pad code ZRM-N004C, 75.0 mm long and 55.3 mm tall - a direct fit in the standard caliper
  • Consistent lever travel as the pad thins, so the bite point on the GT650R does not creep between services
  • Country of origin Japan; ZCOO does not source its friction material outside its own plant

Construction and Material Quality

Look behind the friction face of the N004 and the engineering is all about stiffness. The N004 plate is laser-cut from an alloy chosen for stiffness at working temperature, not at room temperature. Together they remove the two things that normally end a sintered pad, and the N004 is built against both: fade at the top of the range, and the friction layer lifting away.

Performance and Feel

The defining property of the EX Race mixture in the N004 is a flat friction curve. The harder EXC Endurance mixture bit sooner and lasted longer, but asked considerably more of a GT650R disc than the N004 in EX Race does. On an unfaired machine like the Hyosung GT650R that is a control argument, not a comfort one.

Fitment and Compatibility

For the GT650R of 2015 the N004 is the shape ZCOO lists. ZCOO lists no rear pad for the GT650R. Before ordering, check that your caliper takes a pad of 75.0 mm length and 55.3 mm height. The same N004 shape covers 12 further machines in the 2026 catalogue.

Road Approval

No ECE R90 type approval is documented for this pad. It appears neither in ZCOO's own catalogue nor on the European distributor's site, and no approval number is printed on the packaging data available to us. ZCOO itself describes the compound as suited to competition machines and road machines alike, but that is a description of the mixture, not a type approval. Until the distributor confirms an approval in writing, treat this as a track and competition part: in Germany a replacement brake pad without ECE R90 approval may not be fitted to a motorcycle used on public roads. Ask us before ordering if you need this clarified for your machine.
