Sprint Filter PM188S F1-85 air filter

The facts.

DescriptionThe whole story▼

A new marque arrives with motorcycles long before it arrives with an aftermarket. The Kove 800 X Pro has been on sale in Europe since 2024, and an owner looking for anything beyond the official service parts finds quickly that the catalogues have not caught up. Air filters are the exception, and the reason is structural: an element is defined by the box it seals into, not by the badge on the tank. That is how one Sprint Filter part number reaches from BMW's middleweight range across to this bike.

Key Features

  • Dry woven polyester, the racing member of the P08 family, oiled at no point
  • Woven from polyester threads from 22 µm in diameter, with a rated flow of 15,000 l/m²/sec
  • Retention of 95.22 per cent, measured on 100-micron particles
  • Around twice the filtering cloth of other performance elements, in the standard frame
  • A direct swap for the original panel — no modification to the airbox, no remap
  • Cleaned rather than consumed, with two years of warranty from purchase

Bought by dimension, not by brand

Filter catalogues are organised by fitment because fitment is the only thing that decides anything: the frame has to seal, the cloth has to stand where the air goes, and the rest is marketing. PM188S F1-85 is listed against nine machines, and eight of them wear a different badge from this one. For the owner of a marque whose dealer network is still thin in most countries, that is a practical piece of news — a service item that can be sourced anywhere the far more common European models are sold, rather than ordered ahead and carried.

Which of the two versions to order

Sprint Filter builds this fitment twice. The road-and-track P08 is rated at 80 µm and flows 5,050 litres per square metre per second; the racing F1-85, whose 85 is a name and not a pore size, is a patented weave that flows 15,000, retained 95.22 per cent of 100-micron particles in the maker's test against 93.13 for the P08, and asks around two and a half times the price. An 800 X Pro is a rally-styled adventure machine, which in practice means dust far more often than it means the rev limiter, and for fine dust the range has dedicated media, the P14 at 14 µm and the T12 at 7 — the maker quotes the F1-85's retention only at 100 microns. Order the racing element if the bike is run at sustained full throttle and you want the specification the manufacturer names as the most used in MotoGP and WorldSBK. Otherwise the standard version does the same dry, washable job for how this machine is actually ridden, at a fraction of the cost.

Care and cleaning

Air, from the inside face outward, is the normal service — a compressor and a minute per side. Beyond that, lukewarm water with a mild detergent worked gently through the cloth, rinsed until it runs clear. Drying takes as long as it takes: open air only, never heat, never a flame, and never refitted while any dampness remains. Fitment & Compatibility

Made for the Kove 800 X Pro of 2024 to 2026, seated in the standard airbox with nothing altered around it. Nine machines take this element in total — this one and eight BMW F models — and the Fitment tab names them all.
