Two point six kilos against six point two, and a warning that has to come before the sales pitch: fitting this collector requires the motorcycle to be remapped. Spark says so in capitals, and the reason is not emissions paperwork — it is what a lean-running V-twin does to itself.
Key Features
- Full titanium TIG-welded racing collector for the KTM 1290 and 1390 Super Duke R, 2020 to 2026.
- 2.6 kg against 6.2 kg standard — 3.6 kg saved.
- Silencing box included, replacing the bulky original section.
- Valve simulator supplied, so the cables can stay connected and no error light appears.
- Works with a Spark silencer or the original one.
- ECU remapping is mandatory.
Read the Remap Warning First
Spark states it plainly: when installing this racing manifold, the motorcycle must be remapped. Removing the catalytic converter makes the engine run very lean, which raises exhaust temperature and the stress the engine is under.
That is a mechanical warning, not a legal one. A large V-twin running lean at sustained load is the classic route to a damaged piston or valve seat, and no exhaust is worth that. Budget the remap into the purchase — it is not optional and it is not something to do later.
What the Valve Simulator Does
The Super Duke's ECU expects to see an exhaust valve motor on the end of its wiring. Take the valve away and the dash lights up.
GKT8502 includes a simulator that the cables connect to, so the electronics see what they expect and nothing is flagged. The alternative, GKT8503, comes without it and is for bikes where the valve wiring and motor have been removed entirely — on those, Spark requires either the remap or an electronic simulator before the engine is started at all.
A Box in the Collector
This is not a bare set of pipes. The collector carries a silencing box, which is what lets it replace the whole bulky original section and still give what Spark calls a dark and deep voice without being too loud.
The box contains sound-absorbing packing, and Spark asks that it be checked every 15,000 to 20,000 kilometres, or sooner if the box changes colour. That is honest maintenance advice for a consumable most manufacturers never mention.
Installation
Use the original graphite gaskets — Spark specifies them rather than supplying substitutes. If the valve wires remain on the motorcycle, secure them to the valve simulator. Spark supplies both a printed instruction sheet and an installation video for this part; both are linked under Downloads on this page.
Fitment & Compatibility
KTM 1290 Super Duke R, 1290 Super Duke R EVO, 1390 Super Duke R and 1390 Super Duke R EVO, 2020 through 2026. Without the valve simulator it is GKT8503. The rear pipe as a spare part is SGKT8502*03. Spark's homologated silencers for the same bike include GKT0111TOM, GKT0113TOM and GKT0120TOMA.
Road Approval
None. The collector removes the catalytic converter, which ends road legality regardless of what is fitted behind it.
