Light travels into the clear layer, catches the weave at slightly different angles across the curve of the shell, and gives the surface a movement that satin flattens out entirely. On a compact six-shell helmet there is a lot of curvature packed into a small area, so the effect is more concentrated here than it would be on a bulkier shell. It is priced the same as the matt version, so the choice between them is purely whether you want the material to be quiet or to be looked at. 🔵 Two care points, both more consequential on carbon than on paint. Gloss shows swirl marks if you dry-wipe it, so wash wet and dry with a clean soft cloth — and once they are in a clear coat they stay. And the lacquer is the ultraviolet barrier for the resin below: no abrasive polish, no solvents, and out of direct sun when the helmet is not being ridden. If you are choosing between the two plain carbon options, ask yourself how you will wash it. Gloss is the more impressive of the two in the flesh and the less forgiving of a dry cloth; matt asks nothing of you and shows the material only in raking light. Both cost the same and both are the same helmet.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003eThree visors, one helmet\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e🟢 \u003cstrong\u003eThe tinted visor is worth calling out.\u003c\/strong\u003e LS2 supplies a complete second screen rather than only the internal shield, and the quick-change system means it goes on in under a minute at the side of the road.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e🔵 Remember what it is for: daylight. Most European jurisdictions bar tinted visors at night and in poor visibility.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003eHolding on, and letting go\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e🔵 A metal fastener rather than a moulded one is a small specification that shows over years.
