DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP PS DU005 replaces the entire left-hand control set on the Panigale 1199 with a body milled from Ergal.
Key Features
- Ducati Panigale 1199 (2012–2015)
- Complete street control set on the left
- Black, red or titanium anodising
- CNC-machined from Ergal 7075
- Sealed switch elements
- Plug-and-play on the original connector
The Side That Does the Work
Indicators, horn, headlight and every menu on the dashboard. The left block is operated far more often than the right one and it is usually the first to develop a contact that hesitates.
Navigating a TFT
The 1199 had a full colour display when its rivals still had segment LCDs, with lap timing and eight traction levels. All of it is reached from this block, which gave those particular contacts a workload nobody had designed for.
Three Anodised Finishes
Black, red and titanium, each grown into the top layer of the aluminium rather than sprayed over it. There is no printed legend anywhere on the body to fade.
Ten Years of Sunlight
The legends on a moulded block are printed and they go first, usually after three or four summers. Everything still works and nothing can be read, which is its own kind of annoyance.
A Machined Body
Cut from one piece of Ergal 7075 with the elements sealed inside. No two halves, no joint between them and nothing for water to travel along toward a terminal.
Found Without Looking
Two hundred metres before a corner the left hand is holding the bar and has no attention to spare. Defined edges let a control be found by geometry rather than by glancing down at it.
Sixty-Two Kilograms of Engine
The Superquadro weighs less than a great many 600 cc fours. Ducati used that freedom to put mass precisely where the chassis wanted it, which is why the 1199 turns the way it does.
Ducati's Own Plug
Pre-wired to the factory connector. Two fasteners and one plug, nothing spliced, and no warning when the ignition comes back on.
The Frame That Was Not There
Ducati bolted the steering head to the cylinder heads through an aluminium airbox and left out the frame entirely. Purists argued for two seasons and the lap times gradually ended the discussion.
