DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Superleggera V4 is one of the rarest members of the Panigale family, built in a numbered series of five hundred and designed around saving weight wherever Ducati's engineers could find it. Some of these bikes are ridden on circuits as intended, while others spend most of their lives on display, sometimes in a living room or a heated showroom. Both uses raise their own questions about fuel. For the Superleggera V4 of 2020 and 2021, Accossato lists the FC105, a quick-release fuel tank cap made entirely of CNC-machined aluminium, with a quick-closing pawl and six pin colours to choose from.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Ducati Panigale V4 Superleggera, 2020 and 2021
- CNC-machined aluminium from end to end
- Quick-closing pawl: tank opened and closed in moments
- Pin colours: gold, silver, black, red, green, blue
- Spare pawl available separately
- The original cap can be stored and refitted at any time
- No German ABE on record; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato mills the FC105 out of aluminium on CNC machines, all of it, and describes the cap as robust and durable; the design is the company's own and new. The quick-closing pawl opens and closes the tank quickly. Its pin can be ordered in six colours, and on a bike finished like the Superleggera V4, that choice deserves a moment's thought. Should the pawl be damaged, Accossato sells a replacement on its own.
Between the Living Room and the Circuit
A motorcycle kept indoors as a piece of design is a different object from one kept in a garage, and the fuel system is where the difference shows. Owners who display a Superleggera V4 in the house often run the tank as close to empty as they can, or have it drained by a workshop, so that no fuel smell reaches the room and nothing can seep onto the floor. A drip tray or a mat under the engine is sensible in any case. Before the bike goes back to a circuit, the process runs in reverse: fresh fuel goes in outdoors, never inside, with the engine cold and nothing nearby that could ignite vapour. That is also the moment to fit the Accossato cap if it is not already on, to check that the seal sits evenly, and to leave the bike standing for a while before you look for dampness at the rim. After the track day, the tank is emptied again and the original cap goes back on before the Superleggera returns indoors.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list gives the FC105 for the Superleggera V4 of 2020 and 2021, under the name Superleggera V4 998. At Inter-Pace the same cap is also catalogued for the Panigale V4 R, the Panigale V4 and the 1299 Panigale. Please confirm the model year on the registration document against the application list before ordering. Fit the cap only with the engine cold and the bike parked, and check the seal and the rim afterwards.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE or expert report for the FC105, so it is meant for the track. The Superleggera V4's factory cap normally locks and is the one to use whenever the bike is ridden on public roads; changing to this cap there is not a simple matter.
