DescriptionThe whole story▼

Most laps on a Yamaha YZ250F are practice laps, not race laps. Riders who practise twice a week put far more hours on their bike than any race programme would, and wear parts go through at a matching pace. The front disc is one of them. Accossato lists the DK111 for the YZ250F from 2001 to 2015, a fixed front disc in steel, 250 mm in diameter and 3 mm thick, which takes the place of the original disc.

Key Features

  • Fixed front brake disc for the Yamaha YZ250F, 2001 to 2015
  • Steel-made in one piece, from Accossato's off-road range
  • 250 mm outer diameter, 119 mm inner diameter
  • 3 mm thick
  • Six 6.5 mm holes on a 134 mm hole circle
  • Described by Accossato as interchangeable with the original
  • Minimum working thickness printed on the disc
  • No German ABE on record; for motocross

Construction and Material Quality

The DK111 is a one-piece disc: steel from the braking surface to the fixing holes, with no carrier in between. It is 250 mm across and 3 mm thick, with a 119 mm centre and six holes of 6.5 mm on a 134 mm circle. Accossato says the disc can be exchanged for the original. The company traces its knowledge of discs to its racing work in Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3, and it sees the restrained weight of its discs as an advantage for steering.

Hours on the Meter

Many riders fit an hour meter to a four-stroke motocrosser like the YZ250F, and for good reason: engine service is planned in hours, and the same logic works for the brakes. Accossato's general guideline of thirty to forty thousand kilometres does not translate to a bike that never leaves the track. What does work is a simple routine tied to the hours you already log.

At every oil change, look at the front pads and the disc. Every second or third oil change, measure the disc thickness at several points and write it down next to the hours. Within a season you will know roughly how many hours a disc lasts on your tracks with your riding style, and sandy or muddy tracks will show up as faster wear. That turns the front disc into a planned expense rather than an unpleasant surprise before a race. Buy the replacement when the readings approach the printed minimum, and fit it together with new pads so that both start fresh. Accossato also points out that a thin disc may break under extreme stress, which on a practice day is no less dangerous than in a race.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the DK111 for the YZ250F from 2001 to 2015, and its list also names a YZF 250 F of 2003 to 2005 under the same disc. From 2016 the list moves on to the fixed DK268 and the floating DK269. At the rear, the DK168 is listed from 2002 to 2021. The YZ250F has a single front disc, so one DK111 is sufficient.

Road Approval

The DK111 has no German ABE, and no type approval is documented. It is designed for motocross and closed circuits, where the YZ250F belongs.
