DescriptionThe whole story▼

A race-prepared MV Agusta Stradale 800 is an unusual sight, but the three-cylinder tourer does share its engine family with MV Agusta's sportier machines, and a few owners have taken one to club events. For those riders Accossato lists the AGPA177 front pad in the EV2 racing compound, article AGPA177EV2, for the Stradale 800 from 2015 to 2016. It is a pad for competition, for timed laps and hard, late stops, rather than for touring holidays.

Key Features

  • AGPA177EV2 front pad set for the MV Agusta Stradale 800
  • Listed for model years 2015 and 2016
  • EV2 racing mixture, a top racing compound in Accossato's words
  • Designed for repeated heavy stops on a circuit
  • For club racing and timed practice
  • Same plate also sold as ST, EV1 and ZXC
  • Supplied for competition; no German approval papers

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato calls EV2 a top racing compound and positions it for circuit use rather than daily riding. It is intended for sessions in which the brakes are worked hard lap after lap, and the maker's general claims of slow wear, strong stopping and fade held off by controlled heat apply as well. No further information on the composition is published by Accossato. The EV2 layer is bonded to the AGPA177 plate, which fits the standard front calipers of the Stradale 800.

Racing a Tourer

Turning a sporty tourer into a track bike usually means removing luggage racks, fitting stiffer springs and rethinking the brakes. On a circuit the front pads are asked to stop the bike from high speed several times a lap, and in a race there is little room for fade or changing lever feel. A dedicated racing compound is designed for exactly this load.

Look at the pads after each session, and if the lever starts to come back further than before, check the fluid. Clean the pistons before pushing them back when you swap pads, and remember that a racing pad is not intended for a rainy ride home.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's catalogue lists AGPA177 for the front brake of the MV Agusta Stradale 800 in 2015 and 2016. At the rear it names AGPA42 for the same years; no Accossato disc is offered for this bike. Because the Stradale has two front calipers, a complete front set needs two boxes.

Road Approval

No ABE or German approval mark exists in our records for AGPA177EV2. It is offered for racing and competition use.

Scope of Delivery

One box containing two EV2 racing pads for one front caliper.
