DescriptionThe whole story▼

Some owners load a Panigale 1299 S into a van for a circuit day. Others tape over the lights, sign on at the gate and ride the same machine home in the evening, which asks one set of pads to do two quite different jobs between breakfast and dusk. Accossato builds the front pad for this Ducati, catalogued from 2015 to 2017, on the AGPA106 carrier, and the article here carries the EV1 street/track material. The firm rates that compound for road riding and for amateur circuit work in the same breath, which is the brief a rider hands it on a day of that kind.

Key Features

  • Front brake pads for the Ducati Panigale 1299 S, model years 2015 to 2017
  • AGPA106EV1: the AGPA106 carrier in the EV1 street/track material
  • Accossato rates the compound for the road and for amateur circuit use
  • Aimed at the owner whose diary already has a track day in it
  • Two pads per box, the set one caliper takes
  • Each front disc has its own caliper, so a full change needs a pair of boxes
  • ST, EV2 and ZXC are the other materials on this carrier
  • No German ABE documented; supplied for competition use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato sets this compound between its road materials and its racing ones and says so plainly: grip for the street, grip for amateur track sessions, out of a single friction layer. Translated into a rider's terms, that describes a pad you can lean on at a junction without having warmed it up first, and one that has not gone vague by the time a twenty-minute run comes to an end. The steel behind the friction layer is the AGPA106 in every case, so a rider who tries this material and later moves to another changes what meets the disc and leaves everything about the installation alone.

Riding Out to the Circuit and Back

The journey out tells you nothing. A tank of fuel, leathers in a rucksack, an hour of dual carriageway and a queue at the noticeboard, all of it ordinary riding at ordinary temperatures. The sessions are another matter. Twenty minutes on a circuit calls for the same heavy application a dozen or fifteen times over, with half a minute of respite between them, and by the third lap the front of a Panigale 1299 S is hotter than any road ride will make it. The material has to be willing in both states, cool at the first roundabout of the morning and thoroughly hot at the end of the back straight.

It is the ride home that catches people out. The brakes have cooled, the tyres have given up their temperature, the rider is tired, and after four sessions of circuit grip an ordinary road feels slippery even when it is dry. Before leaving the paddock, look at what is left of the material, check the fluid and the travel at the lever, and work the lever a few times so the pistons sit where they should. Riders who plan their day keep enough material in hand for the journey rather than running a set down to the final session on a 1299 S.

Fitment and Compatibility

This is the front entry for the Panigale 1299 S as Accossato lists it, 2015 through 2017, with the 1299 S Anniversario named under 2017 in the same table. Years outside that run belong to other articles in the catalogue. At the back of the bike the AGPA42 covers the same three seasons, and the disc programme offers the DKS036 for this Ducati. Each box serves one caliper; since the front wheel is clamped from both sides, order in pairs if you intend to change the lot.

Road Approval

Neither a German ABE nor an inspection certificate has reached us for the AGPA106EV1. The pads are accordingly sold for circuit and competition use, not for journeys on public roads.

Scope of Delivery

Two AGPA106 pads in the EV1 material, boxed as the set for one of the front calipers on the Panigale 1299 S. Two boxes cover the complete front wheel.
