Fitting a finer filter medium is a decision about headroom, and the GSX-S125 has headroom twice over. The airbox this element sits in was drawn around the largest engine on its fitment list, not the smallest; and the 125 itself was built to an output ceiling set by the licence class it is sold into. Whatever intake reserve the P14 asks for on this machine was never going to be called on. That is the honest argument for the finer medium here — not more power, which no element inside a standard airbox delivers, but the chance to buy retention with capacity this particular motorcycle had no use for.
Key Features
- A dry P14 special nonwoven that never sees oil, so nothing migrates forward onto the intake sensors
- It filters at 14 microns and passes 1,800 litres per square metre per second
- Behind that sits roughly double the filtering surface of other performance filters
- Dust, everyday riding and long distances are what Sprint Filter specify it for
- In the standard airbox it goes straight in where the original came out — no modification, no remap
- Washable and reusable; two years of warranty from date of purchase
What the finer structure costs, and what it buys
Sprint Filter's standard road medium, the P08, filters at 80 microns and flows 5,050 litres per square metre per second. The P14 filters at 14 and flows 1,800. Those two numbers always move in opposite directions: a structure that stops more passes less. This is a trade rather than a ranking, and the P14 is not an improved P08 — it is a different answer to a different question. On a machine whose airflow demand is fixed well below what its own airbox can supply, the side of that trade you give up costs you nothing you were using.
The part of the deal nobody mentions
Said plainly: a finer medium collects more, so it reaches any given state of loading sooner than a coarse one would. That is not a fault, it is the same physics read from the other end — the dirt is on the element instead of in the engine. What the reserve on a small, capped single does is push the point where that loading becomes relevant a long way out, and because this element is cleaned rather than replaced, getting there costs compressed air and a few minutes rather than a new part. Riders who want the largest possible flow margin on clean roads are better served by the P08.
Care and cleaning
Normal service for the PM250P14 is compressed air, sent through from the clean side outwards, and it can be repeated as often as you like. Anything beyond that is a wash: lukewarm water, a mild detergent, and a rinse kept up until the water runs clear. Then open air until the element is completely dry — never heat, never a flame — and back into the airbox dry. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Suzuki GSX-S125, 2017 to 2026, a direct replacement in the standard airbox. The same element covers the other small-capacity Suzukis built around this airbox and one machine from another marque, five motorcycles in all; the full list is in the Fitment tab.
