An M Naked Set Up Like a Race Bike
The M1000R already has carbon wheels, M brakes and winglets. Specifying the racing switch order is a small continuation of the same logic: the motorcycle was built from track components, and the cockpit may as well be arranged the same way.
Red, Grey, Black, Blue
That is the order from the top, against the standard red, blue, grey, black. The blue control sits at the bottom instead of second. It is a small physical change and a significant one in use, because the hand memorises positions rather than colours.
Deciding Before You Order
The layout is fixed when the switch is assembled and cannot be changed afterwards. Riders with a preference from a previous machine know it immediately. Riders without one are usually better served by the standard order, which matches every other BMW they are likely to ride.
Both Parts in One Component
The right-hand switches are built into the throttle housing on this generation, so a replacement has to cover both. This one does, in a single machined body using the original BMW connector, with no change to the wiring.
Black Anodised
The BM038 family is offered in one finish. Against the M1000R's exposed frame, dark plastics and carbon detailing, black is what the component disappears into, which on a bike with this much else going on visually is generally the right outcome.
Winglets and a Bare Cockpit
The M1000R hides nothing. Its frame, swingarm and engine cases are all in view, and a throttle housing cut from billet belongs among them in a way a moulded shell never quite does. On this motorcycle the visual argument is as strong as the mechanical one.
