The JP ESR 012 answers for the rear unit on the Panigale 1299 and leaves the front circuit, the engine maps and the rider aids exactly as Ducati arranged them.

Desmodromic Valves
Closed mechanically rather than by springs, which is what allows an engine with this bore to rev as high as it does.
Why the Circuit Complains
Ducati's suspension controller expects to find a stepper motor and a position sensor on every leg it manages. Fit conventional units and it finds neither, so it reports a fault and puts the electronics into a limp state.
Sealed Against the Elements
The body is potted, which matters because the suspension connectors sit low on the motorcycle where spray, salt and pressure washers all reach them.
A Clean Panel
One live warning masks the next, and a dashboard that still means something is worth the price of a connector on any motorcycle used seriously.
Front, Rear or Both
The two ends are separate circuits with separate part numbers, so a conversion at one end only needs one eliminator.
What Happens Without It
A stored fault, a warning on the panel and, on several models, riding modes withheld until the circuit reads healthy again.
Riding Modes Return
Several models withhold modes while a suspension fault is stored. Answering the circuit restores the rest of the electronics to normal behaviour.
The Health Check Happens Every Ride
The controller measures the circuits at every ignition cycle, before the motorcycle has moved. That is why an empty connector produces a warning immediately rather than after a ride, and why a conversion without an eliminator is obvious the first time the key is turned.
The Last of the Twins
This was the final development of the superbike twin, and the machines are now old enough that electronic suspension components are failing rather than merely being disliked. That shifts the conversion from preference to economics for a growing number of owners.
Spring Rate for the Rider
The standard spring was chosen for a nominal weight, and the electronics could adjust damping but never the spring. A conversion is the natural moment to fit the correct rate, and it is usually where most of the improvement actually comes from.
