DescriptionThe whole story▼
The R7 hides its exhaust, and this system keeps it hidden. Akrapovic put the pre-muffler under the main body where the fairing covers it and let only the muffler exit on the right — the same layout the factory uses, executed in titanium and stainless steel, with a catalytic converter inside so the bike keeps EC and ECE type approval.
Key Features
- Complete system: titanium muffler outer sleeve and end cap, stainless steel headers and link pipe
- Pre-muffler routed under the body and hidden by the fairing, muffler exiting on the right
- Catalytic converter included in the package, which is what keeps the system Euro 5 compliant
- 6.7 kg against the standard 7.7 kg: one kilogram and 13 per cent less
- Hand-crafted carbon fibre heat shield
- 1.5 Nm more torque at 5,100 rpm — low in the range, where a 690 cc twin is actually ridden
- EC and ECE type approved, plug-and-play with no remapping
Reading the Numbers Honestly
Akrapovic's own marketing copy for this system quotes 2.0 hp and a 0.7 kg saving. Their structured measurement record — the same data that feeds the technical table on akrapovic.com — says 0.8 PS (0.6 kW) at 9,200 rpm and 1.0 kg. The figures on this page are the measurement record, not the copy.
Peak torque is essentially unchanged at 65.3 Nm against the standard 65.4 Nm; the gain of 1.5 Nm sits at 5,100 rpm. In other words this system fills the middle rather than raising the top, which on a CP2 twin is the useful shape.
Ninety Minutes on the Bench
Akrapovic quotes 90 minutes for the installation, and that number describes the job honestly. This is not a silencer swap: the headers, the collector and the standard catalytic converter all come off, and the fairing has to be opened to reach them. On a Racing Line the whole exhaust path from the cylinder head back is replaced, which is where the weight and the gas-flow gains come from and why the work takes an afternoon rather than a coffee break.
Nothing about the engine management changes in the process. The bike goes back together on its standard ECU with no additional module, and the standard system can be refitted if the R7 has to be returned to original condition.
Fitment and Compatibility
S-Y7R14-HAPT is built for the Yamaha R7 of model year 2026 and fits Euro 5+ machines equipped with two lambda sensors. Installation takes about 90 minutes because the headers come off with the system. An optional black-coated aluminium muffler bracket, P-MBY7R5, is available for machines running without passenger footpegs.
Road Approval
EC type approval and ECE type approval, Euro 5, with the certificates supplied and downloadable here. The catalytic converter stays inside the system, so nothing is removed from the emissions path.
