DescriptionThe whole story▼
Footpeg upgrades are usually bought with the rider in mind, yet on a KTM 790 Duke carrying two people the passenger has the least to hold on to. A pillion has no handlebar, only a partial view of the road ahead, and has to brace against every stop and every change of direction largely through the feet. For the 790 Duke of 2018 to 2022, Accossato offers the FT102 touring footpegs in a front and a rear version, the rear one for the passenger, machined from aluminium with a notch that improves the grip of the boot.
Key Features
- Touring footpegs for the KTM 790 Duke, 2018 to 2022
- Also listed for the 790 Duke L of 2018 to 2020
- Made from CNC-machined aluminium
- Black anodising with a red insert
- Special notch for a firmer hold on the boot sole
- Front pegs for the rider, rear pegs for the passenger, sold separately
- No German ABE documented; track use
Construction and Material Quality
The FT102 is machined from aluminium on CNC equipment, anodised black and fitted with a red insert. Accossato also shapes a special notch into it to raise the grip of the boot. That is the full extent of the maker's description, and it applies to both versions: whether you buy the pegs for the rider's position or for the passenger's, material, finish and notch are the same.
Two Up on a Naked Twin
A passenger's feet do more work than most riders realise. Under braking they push against the pegs so that the passenger does not slide into the rider's back; in bends they keep the body steady and centred as the bike leans; at a standstill they stay on the pegs so that the rider can balance the bike. When a foot slips off at the wrong moment, the passenger's weight lurches, and the rider feels it at once through the seat and the bars.
A short briefing before the first trip helps more than any part. Ask your passenger to keep both feet on the pegs from the moment the bike moves until it has stopped, to look over your inside shoulder in bends rather than leaning against them, and to press on the pegs rather than on your back when you brake. Insist on boots with a proper sole, since trainers slip easily. The notched surface of the FT102 then gives that sole something to work against. On a sporty naked like the 790 Duke, where the passenger sits close behind the rider, secure footing is often the difference between a relaxed ride and a tense one.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FT102 for the Duke 790 from 2018 to 2022 and for the Duke 790 L from 2018 to 2020. Order the rear version to replace the passenger pegs and the front version for the rider's; each is a separate set. Let a workshop fit them and tighten the fasteners to the values KTM gives for the 790 Duke.
Road Approval
We have no documented ABE or parts certificate for the FT102, so it is not approved for the road in Germany. We sell it for track use.
