DescriptionThe whole story▼
Behind almost every young rider on a Honda CRF150R there is a parent with a toolbox. The CRF150R is Honda's small four-stroke motocross bike, raced by youngsters working their way up through the youth classes, and on race day the adult in the pit is mechanic, driver, coach and caterer at once. What that adult appreciates most is a lever that needs straightening less often. Accossato's B8206 for the CRF150R of 2007 to 2022 is machined from Ergal 7075 in Italy, and its blade hangs on a joint that lets it swing forward in a spill.
Key Features
- Folding front brake lever for the Honda CRF150R, 2007 to 2022
- Takes the place of the standard lever on the original master cylinder
- Short blade for three fingers
- Joint lets the blade fold forward when it hits the ground
- Machined in Italy from a solid block of Ergal 7075
- Dark base; blade in black, blue, gold or red
- Supplied on its own, as a single lever
- No German ABE documented; for motocross use
Construction and Material Quality
The lever is machined rather than cast, cut from solid Ergal 7075 with strength, reliability and low weight as the aims, and the CNC work is done in Italy. What arrives in the pit is a two-part lever. Its dark base mounts on the master cylinder pivot; its blade, in one of four colours, is attached with a joint that lets it fold. On the brake side Accossato keeps the blade short and sizes it for three fingers, so the little finger stays wrapped round the grip, even on a young hand.
The Parent in the Pit
Youth race days have a rhythm that parents learn quickly. Sign on, walk the track, take the bike through scrutineering, then spend the gaps between practice and motos crouched over the CRF150R with a stand, a bucket and a box of spanners. Chains are checked, spokes tightened, air filters swapped, bars and levers straightened after the inevitable spills. Young riders fall a lot, mostly at low speed in ruts and turns, and a bike that has been down twice in a moto often comes back with a bent brake lever that has to be sorted before the next start.
A folding lever takes one job off that list more often than not. When the CRF150R goes down on its right, the B8206's blade can fold forward on the joint instead of taking the whole force at its tip, and it can then be swung back by hand. A parent will still check it between races, and a spare stays in the toolbox for the crash that is too hard for any lever. But the fewer repairs there are between motos, the more of that short break can go to the rider: a drink, a word about the lines through the rough section, a few calm minutes before the gate drops again.
Fitment and Compatibility
Model years 2007 to 2022 of the Honda CRF150R are listed for the B8206, which replaces the standard lever on the original front brake master cylinder. On the clutch side, the folding C7101 covers the same years. It is made in black or red, while the brake lever adds blue and gold, so a CRF150R with both levers in one colour means choosing black or red.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the B8206. It is a part for the motocross track, just as the CRF150R is a bike for the track.
