DescriptionThe whole story▼
Suzuki has painted the GSX-R in blue and white for as long as many riders can remember, and plenty of GSX-R1000s wear some version of that scheme. A clutch lever sits right in the rider's view, so its colour is a choice worth making deliberately. Accossato's ESS035, listed for the GSX-R1000 of 2005 and 2006 and again from 2009 to 2021, is machined from aluminium with an adjustable distance to the grip, and its blade is anodised in one of seven colours.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Suzuki GSX-R1000, 2005 to 2006 and 2009 to 2021
- Fits the original clutch mounting
- Reach to the grip adjustable
- Blue blade in short, standard and long; six further colours
- Standard length approximately 138 mm
- Aluminium, CNC-machined, anodised; hub always black
- Fixed blade in one piece
Construction and Material Quality
Anodising is the reason Accossato can offer seven blade colours without resorting to paint. Once the ESS035 has been machined from aluminium on CNC equipment, its surface is converted into a porous oxide layer; the dye is drawn into those pores and then sealed in. The hub is treated in black, the blade in the colour you order, and the result is a finish that belongs to the metal and wears slowly and evenly. Mechanically the lever is simple: pivot and reach adjuster in the hub, and a rigid blade that does not fold.
Blue, White and a Choice of Blade
On a GSX-R1000 in the traditional blue and white, a blue blade is the obvious match, and it happens to be made in all three lengths, so the colour does not limit your choice of length. Silver is a quieter alternative that echoes the light parts of the bodywork without shouting, available short or standard. On a black or grey bike, a black lever keeps the cockpit dark and technical, while a single bright blade, orange or green perhaps, gives a dark machine a deliberate point of colour. Gold tends to suit bikes that already carry gold-coloured details elsewhere. Whatever you choose, think of the brake side as well: the EDF035 comes in the same colours, and levers in one colour on both sides of the bar look planned rather than added. If you prefer contrast, one colour on the left and another on the right is just as possible, since the two are ordered separately. Only black and red are limited, both made as standard levers.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the ESS035 for the GSX-R1000 in 2005 and 2006 and from 2009 to 2021, with entries covering 2009 to 2020 and 2015 to 2021. The 2007 and 2008 model years are not part of this listing. The lever replaces the stock part at the original clutch mounting. On the right-hand side, the EDF035 brake lever is listed for the GSX-R1000 from 2005 to 2020.
Road Approval
No German ABE is on record for this GSX-R1000 clutch lever; it is sold for circuit use.
