Filters & Maintenance

Filters and maintenance supplies are where reliable performance actually starts. This collection covers the consumables a sport bike runs through between services: performance air filters from Sprint Filter, BMC and K&N, oil filters, engine oils and fluids from Bardahl and ELF, chain spray and dedicated care products for every surface on the machine.

With air filters, the decision comes down to media and use. Washable polyester and cotton-gauze elements flow more air than a stock paper filter and can be cleaned and reused for years — Sprint Filter's polyester even runs without oil — while racing-spec versions trade filtration margin for maximum airflow and belong on the track rather than the daily commute. Choose oil with the same discipline: match viscosity and the JASO MA2 rating to your engine first, then step up to ester-based full synthetics if trackdays push oil temperatures well beyond road riding. Oil filters should always meet or exceed OEM specification, whatever the mileage.

Chain care is equally application-specific. A road chain spray has to be O-ring and X-ring safe and resist fling at motorway speeds, whereas dry racing lubes prioritise low drag over service life. Fresh filters, the correct fluids and a clean, properly lubricated drivetrain are the quiet foundation of consistent performance — on the road, at trackdays and in racing.
