DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Hypermotard 950 SP with the JP ACS 050 machined throttle housing in black anodised Ergal 7075.
Key Features
- Ducati Hypermotard 950 SP (2019–2025)
- Throttle housing without switch block
- CNC-machined from Ergal 7075
- Black anodised
- Machined throttle tube bore
- Uses the original cables or sensor
Öhlins and More Travel
The SP carries Öhlins at both ends with longer suspension travel, a flatter seat and Marchesini forged wheels. It is the version built for people who actually ride supermoto rather than commute on one.
Higher and Harder
The extra ride height changes the geometry noticeably and makes the bike considerably more willing to turn on the front wheel. It also makes it a difficult motorcycle for shorter riders.
A Hundred and Fourteen Horsepower
From the 937 cc Testastretta, unchanged from the base bike. Ducati put the SP's money into the chassis, which on this kind of motorcycle is where it belongs.
Just the Housing
The switch block stays. This is the throttle assembly on its own, appropriate when the switchgear works and the moulded plastic is the only complaint.
Precision at the Grip
The bore is machined rather than moulded, which keeps the tube turning cleanly for years. On a bike ridden with constant, large throttle inputs, that is felt immediately.
Black Anodised
Converted into the surface. The SP carries a good deal of gold and carbon already, and a restrained bar component sits better than another accent colour would.
Cut From Solid
Ergal 7075, an aerospace grade at roughly twice the yield strength of ordinary machined aluminium. On a supermoto it will eventually be tested against tarmac.
Built to Be Crashed
The SP is bought by riders who use it properly, which means it goes over. Components on the bar are chosen with that in mind or they are chosen badly.
Marchesini Forged Wheels
The SP's rims save rotating mass at the point where it matters most, which on a motorcycle this light is felt at every change of direction. It is an expensive way to save a small number of kilograms and on this particular bike it is worth it.
