On an RC8 the V-twin is visible through the fairing cut-outs, which changes what a blanking plate has to be. JP ES 046 closes the PAIR ports with machined billet covers rather than pressed discs.

Visible Through the Bodywork
The RC8's fairing leaves a good deal of the engine exposed, and the reed valve covers sit where the light catches them. A billet plate with an anodised finish reads as part of the engine; a flat blank reads as something someone had lying around. On a bike whose appeal is largely how it looks and sounds, that distinction is not trivial.
Space Is the Other Reason
The RC8's V-twin leaves very little room across the top of the engine, and the PAIR plumbing runs straight through the middle of it. Deleting the system and closing the ports frees a corridor for anything else you want to route — a datalogger harness, an oil temperature sender, a lap timer feed.
Fitting It
Access is the difficult part on an RC8, not the work itself. With the bodywork off, unbolt the reed valve cover, remove the valve, clean the face and fit the plate. Allow more time than the job deserves purely for panel removal.
