DescriptionThe whole story▼

Switching the FJR1300AE's electronic suspension to its two-up and luggage setting takes a button press. The front brake, however, has to cope with the extra weight on its own. Accossato's AGPA21 front pad in Sintered (ST) compound is designed for that. Accossato says it holds a high, constant grip level at low and high temperatures and grips well in the wet. It is listed for the Yamaha FJR 1300 AE from 2016 to 2019.

Key Features

  • AGPA21 front pad, Accossato Sintered (ST) compound
  • For the Yamaha FJR1300AE, 2016-2019
  • Accossato: steady grip hot or cold, dependable in rain
  • Suited to two-up touring with full luggage
  • Constant lever feel over long descents
  • Box contains two pads for one front caliper
  • OR and EV1 are also listed

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato presents the sintered compound as its most consistent mix: the same grip across the temperature range and reliable bite on a wet disc. For a heavily loaded tourer, those are the two qualities that matter most. The general Accossato aims are included too: long life, controlled heat to limit fade and firm stopping.

Loaded Up and Heading South

When the FJR1300AE is set up for a long trip with a passenger, the electronics take care of the suspension, but the brakes have to handle the extra mass the old-fashioned way. On descents, the discs heat up; in the rain, they get wet. The ST compound is designed to keep its bite in both situations, so the lever feels the same on the last day of the trip as on the first. That predictability matters on a heavy bike in unfamiliar mountain roads. For light solo commuting, OR is the quieter alternative. On a longer tour, glance at the pads through the calipers every few fuel stops; a loaded bike uses them up faster than a solo one.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato names AGPA21 for the front of the FJR 1300 AE from 2016 to 2019, with AGPP121 for the rear. Two front calipers mean two boxes. Before a long trip, check the discs, the fluid and the remaining pad thickness, change both front calipers at once and clean the pistons before pushing them back. Bed the pads in progressively before you load the bike.

Road Approval

We have no ABE or Prüfzeichen for AGPA21ST; the pad is therefore offered for competition use.
