DescriptionThe whole story▼
Autumn in the hills turns a familiar loop into something else entirely. The clay goes greasy, the rocks stay wet under the trees until noon, and a Beta RR 430 4T that crossed a stream ten minutes ago carries water on its front disc into the next steep pitch. Accossato answers that with the Sintered (ST) version of its AGPA51 front pad, listed for the RR 430 4T from 2015 to 2021. It is the material for riders whose season does not stop when the ground gets wet.
Key Features
- Front pads for the Beta RR 430 4T, 2015 to 2021
- Article number AGPA51ST: the AGPA51 shape in the Sintered (ST) material
- Accossato names an even, high grip level hot or cold, and a firm answer on a wet disc
- A box holds two pads, which is one caliper's worth
- The OR, STMX and EV1 versions share the same outline
- Rear wheel of this Beta: AGPP106, listed 2015 to 2019
- Accossato's DK017 disc is catalogued for the same machine
- No German ABE in our files; offered for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Steadiness is what Accossato claims for the Sintered (ST) material. Whether the friction face starts a descent cold or has been worked hard for a mile of switchbacks, the grip is meant to sit at the same level, and a disc running with water and mud across it is not supposed to change the answer the lever gives. For the rider of an RR 430 4T that shows up as a bite point in a fixed place. On ground where the front tyre has little to offer anyway, knowing exactly where the brake begins is the part that keeps the wheel turning.
Wet Rock Under the Trees
Water changes two things at once on a trail. The surface gives less, so the wheel locks at a pull that would have been harmless in summer, and the disc arrives at each stop with a film on it that has to be swept away before anything happens. Riders who know a wet loop brake in small, early touches and keep the lever busy rather than waiting for the last moment, which also means the disc never dries out into one proper clean stop. A compound that behaves the same wet and dry makes that habit possible.
A wet season is hard on more than the pads. Check the brake fluid before the first long ride of autumn, because a soft lever on a slick descent takes away every advantage the material offers. When a new set goes in, clean the caliper pistons before they are pushed back into their bores, otherwise the grit carried in by a winter of mud makes them drag afterwards. Bed the fresh pads in on a dry track first, and pump the lever until it is firm before the wheel goes back on the ground.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato names the AGPA51 for the front wheel of the Beta RR 430 4T through the 2015 to 2021 model years. Riders of the same machine looking for the rear should note that the AGPP106 listing there runs only from 2015 to 2019, a shorter window than the front. Pads belong on an axle in pairs, so both sides go in together; one box serves one caliper, and the front end of the RR 430 4T carries a single one. A DK017 disc is listed by Accossato for this Beta as well.
Road Approval
We hold no approval documents for the AGPA51ST and no German ABE, which places these pads with our competition parts and not with road equipment.
