DescriptionThe whole story▼
Getting an Aprilia Dorsoduro 750 to a race circuit or a riding holiday often involves a van or a trailer, and loading is where plenty of bikes fall over for the first time. The ramp is steep, the rider walks beside the bike instead of sitting on it, and a slipping boot or a moment of hesitation lets the weight go. For the Dorsoduro 750 of 2009 to 2015, Accossato makes the PP011, a black pair of rear axle sliders meant for exactly that kind of moment.
Key Features
- Rear axle sliders for the Aprilia Dorsoduro 750, 2009 to 2015
- Accossato rear fork protection PP011
- Pack of two, one for each side
- Aluminium with plastic, black finish
- Spacers, screws and remaining fitting parts included, according to Accossato
- Intended to touch the ground first in a fall or slide
- No German ABE on record; supplied for the track
Construction and Material Quality
The PP011 consists of two black protectors made of aluminium and plastic, one for each side of the swingarm. Accossato supplies the spacers, screws and other fitting parts in the same package. Rear axle sliders give the back of the bike a sacrificial contact point: if the Dorsoduro tips over or slides, they are meant to reach the ground before the swingarm and the axle area do, and that can reduce the damage there. After a hard hit they are replaced, which takes far less effort than straightening or refinishing the parts they shield.
Up the Ramp and Into the Van
Loading goes more smoothly with a plan. Park the van or trailer on level ground and secure the ramp so it cannot slip off the edge. Ride the bike up only if you have done it before; otherwise push the Dorsoduro 750 with the engine off, a helper at the back and your hand on the front brake the whole time, because that brake is the only thing that stops it rolling back. Once inside, put the front wheel in a chock and pull the bike down with straps from both sides until the suspension is slightly compressed, so it cannot bounce free on a bumpy road. Never hook a strap round something that can bend, such as a lever or the tail light. Unloading is the riskier half, since the bike wants to run away down the ramp. Take your time, and afterwards look at the sliders, the rear brake pedal and the footrests if anything touched.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list names the PP011 for the Dorsoduro 750 from 2009 to 2015. The PF031 front axle sliders and the TP052 crash pads are also listed for this bike and can be combined with the rear pair. At Inter-Pace the PP011 is linked to the Dorsoduro 1200 as well. If your Dorsoduro 750 dates from 2008 or 2016, check with us before ordering, as Accossato's row for the rear sliders does not include those years.
Road Approval
We hold no German ABE and no test papers for these rear sliders, so they are listed for competition and track use.
