DescriptionThe whole story▼

Why would a racing pad appear in the listing for a cruiser? Accossato makes each backing plate in several mixtures, and the AGPA96 outline that fits the Moto Guzzi California Custom ABS 1400 from 2013 to 2015 is also offered in its EV2 racing compound, article AGPA96EV2. For most Custom owners a road mixture is the obvious choice. This version is for the few who run the bike in closed-course events or on track and want a dedicated competition pad for those days.

Key Features

  • AGPA96EV2 front pads, EV2 racing compound
  • Fits the Moto Guzzi California Custom ABS 1400, 2013 to 2015, per Accossato
  • Accossato ranks EV2 among its top racing compounds
  • A specialist option for closed-course events
  • Designed for repeated hard stops at speed
  • Plate also available as OR, ST, EV1 and ZXC
  • No German approval documents; for competition use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato calls EV2 a top racing compound. It is designed for competition, where brakes are used hard and often, and not for the gentle, frequent use of daily cruising. The maker's general claims of long life, strong stopping and fade held back by limited heat apply too, but beyond that Accossato publishes no information about the mixture, and we add none. The EV2 layer is carried on the AGPA96 plate for the standard front calipers.

Choosing the Right Pad for the Job

Before ordering a racing compound for a heavy cruiser, it is worth asking how the bike will really be used. If it spends most of its time on public roads, a road mixture such as OR or ST will feel more natural at everyday speeds. If it is being prepared for a closed-course event, a demonstration or a track session where the brakes will be worked hard, EV2 is the mixture designed for that stress.

Whatever you choose, change pads as a pair on both front calipers, clean the pistons before retracting them and pump the lever until it is firm before the first ride.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato catalogues AGPA96 for the front of the Moto Guzzi California Custom ABS 1400 from 2013 to 2015, listed as California 1400 Custom. The rear pad is AGPA92 for the same years, and there is no Accossato disc for this model. Two front calipers need two boxes.

Road Approval

We have no ABE or German approval certificate for AGPA96EV2, and it is offered for racing and competition purposes.

Scope of Delivery

One box of two EV2 racing pads for a single front caliper.
