DescriptionThe whole story▼

Touring on a BMW R 1200 RT means long distances in comfort, but it also means ferry ramps, underground hotel garages, cobbled courtyards and crowded fuel stations. In each of those places a big tourer is moved at walking pace, and the clutch does much of the work. The ESC075 by Accossato, a clutch lever machined from solid aluminium for the liquid-cooled R 1200 RT of 2014 to 2019, lets you set the distance from the grip, and its blade comes in seven anodised colours.

Key Features

  • Clutch lever for the BMW R 1200 RT, 2014 to 2019
  • Fits the original clutch mounting in place of the stock lever
  • Reach adjustable at the hub
  • All seven colours in standard length; short in blue, gold and green; long in blue, green and orange
  • CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
  • Black hub, coloured blade
  • Rigid, one-piece lever
  • No German ABE documented; offered for track use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato turns a solid aluminium blank into the ESC075 on CNC machines and then anodises it. The black hub is the functional core, with the pivot and the reach adjuster; the blade, in black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green, is the part your fingers work. There is no hinge along it. Anodised aluminium keeps a hard, uniform surface that copes with sun on a ferry deck and rain on a mountain pass, and it does not chip the way paint does.

Ferry Ramps and Hotel Garages

Ferry ramps are steep, often wet and lined with steel plates, and the crew wants you aboard quickly. Riding up one on a loaded R 1200 RT means starting on an incline, keeping a steady low speed and stopping exactly where you are waved to. Underground garages add tight turns, ramps and concrete that can be slippery. In every case the clutch is held at the friction point for long moments while the right hand manages throttle and brake.

A lever within easy reach makes these moments calmer. Adjust the blade so your fingers close around it without stretching; the friction point then sits nearer the grip, where the hand is stronger. The long blade, offered in blue, green and orange, gives extra leverage for a lighter pull during long spells of slipping the clutch. The short blade, in blue, gold and green, is for riders who prefer two fingers on the lever.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's catalogue gives 2014 to 2019 for the ESC075 on the R 1200 RT. The EDB077 brake lever covers the same model years and shares the black hub, so the pair can match. Older RTs with the air/oil-cooled boxer are not covered, so check that your R 1200 RT belongs to the liquid-cooled generation.

Road Approval

The ESC075 comes without a documented German ABE and is sold for the track on that basis.
