DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Street Twin opened Triumph's range of water-cooled 900 cc modern classics in 2016, and its low seat and easy manners have made it a common choice for newer riders. One situation many of them find awkward is stopping on a hill: holding the bike still at a junction while getting ready to pull away. The front brake lever is central to it. Accossato's EDF014 replaces the original brake lever of the Street Twin from 2016 to 2020; it is machined from aluminium, fits the original master cylinder and has an adjustable reach.

Key Features

  • Brake lever for the Triumph Street Twin, 2016 to 2020
  • Works with the original master cylinder
  • Reach adjustable, for example for smaller hands
  • Standard length approximately 138 mm in all colours
  • Long blade in blue, gold, green or orange; short in those and in silver
  • Aluminium, CNC-machined and anodised
  • Black hub, blade colour of your choice
  • Fixed, single-piece blade without a folding joint

Construction and Material Quality

The EDF014 begins as aluminium that CNC machines cut to shape; anodising then gives it a black hub and a blade in the colour you order. The hub holds the pivot bore and the adjuster that sets the reach. The blade is fixed, without a hinge, and its machined edges are easy for the fingers to find without looking. For a bike that often lives outside, anodising is a sensible finish: the colour is part of the metal's surface, so there is no coating to flake away after a few winters.

Stopped on a Hill

On a slope, the bike wants to roll back the moment you stop, and something has to hold it. The usual method is to stop with the front brake, keep it applied while your left foot goes down, then hand the holding over to the rear brake under your right foot, so that the right hand is free for the throttle when it is time to go. The changeover is where things go wrong: release the front brake too early and the bike rolls back; hold it too long and you pull away against it. A brake lever that you can hold firmly without straining gives you time to do it calmly. On the Street Twin, set the EDF014 so that a relaxed hand can keep the lever squeezed for as long as the lights stay red. The standard blade suits most riders, and the long one, in blue, gold, green or orange, lets four fingers share the holding force. Practise the sequence on a gentle slope first, and move on to steeper ones as it becomes routine.

Fitment and Compatibility

Model years 2016 to 2020 of the Street Twin are covered by this lever in Accossato's list, through entries for the Street 900 Twin of 2016 to 2019 and the Street 900 Twin RFI of 2020. The EDF014 mounts on the original master cylinder. Its clutch counterpart, the EST333P, is listed for 2016 to 2019 only, so no matching clutch lever appears for a 2020 bike.

Road Approval

The EDF014 is not documented as approved for German roads (no ABE) and is sold for track use.
