On a long stage a service schedule does not mean much. The interval in the handbook was written for a motorcycle that goes home at night, and the World Raid exists so that it does not have to. What replaces the schedule is evidence, and on the intake side there is one piece of it: the element itself. The Sprint Filter T12 CM148T12 is a dry polyester special non-woven filtering to 7 microns, made for off-road use, dust and extreme conditions — and being washable, it is the rare consumable that can be taken out, read and put back.
Key Features
- 7-micron filtration from a dry polyester special non-woven, the finest medium in the range
- Rated flow of 560 l/m²/sec, specified for extreme conditions, off-road use and desert dust
- Never oiled, so no oil film can travel downstream to the sensors
- Sits in the standard airbox in place of the original element; nothing cut, nothing remapped
- Restored with compressed air and refitted, so one element covers a trip
- Designed to last the life of the motorcycle, with two years of warranty from purchase
The element is the only report you get
Nothing on the dashboard says how much dust the last few hours held, and a paper cartridge cannot say either: it goes in a bin the moment anyone looks at it properly. A washable element is pulled at a rest stop, inspected, blown clean and refitted, then read again a week later. Across a trip that builds a picture of the route: which stages loaded it, and whether the next deserves a wash before the start rather than after. Servicing becomes a condition decision.
Why this machine can afford the trade
Retention and flow pull against each other, and the range is laid out along that line: P08 at 80 microns with a rated 5,050 l/m²/sec, the water-repellent P037 at 37 microns and 4,500, the P14 non-woven at 14 microns and 1,800, then the T12 at 7 microns and 560. Handing over that much flow deserves an argument. Here it is short: the World Raid was built to put distance between itself and the nearest workshop, so the flow is spent once and in advance, while what the medium holds back stays out of a place nobody can reach with tools. Where the riding is mostly a motorway approach with gravel at the end, the P08 is the better balanced element and this is more filter than the route asks for. Neither adds power to a standard engine.
Care and cleaning
Where an air line is available, use it: air in on the clean side, dust out through the dirty side. Where there is none, lukewarm water and a mild detergent do the same work, rinsed until the run-off is clear. The constraint is drying — the element must be dry right through before it goes back in, in open air, never with heat or a flame. That makes a wash a rest-day task, and no stage of it involves oil. The Sprint Filter maintenance sheet for the CM148T12 is in the Downloads tab.

Made for the Yamaha XTZ 690 Tenere World Raid of 2022 to 2026, replacing the original element in the series airbox. The rest of the Tenere family shares the same T12 element; the full list is in the Fitment tab.
