Parts buying runs on a rule of thumb: finer filtration costs more. On this airbox the rule simply fails. Sprint Filter offers the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 a woven element rated at 80 microns and this non-woven one rated at 14, and the price list separates them by barely one percent. Reading the tag first therefore decides nothing here, which leaves the real question exposed. What the CM231P14 is for is written in its two published figures, and only the roads a particular Bullet is ridden on can say whether those figures suit it.
Key Features
- Special non-woven fabric, dry in service, rated at 14 microns and 1,800 l/m²/sec
- A rating nearly six times finer than the 80 microns of the standard woven medium
- Never oiled at any stage: no dosing when new, nothing to migrate onto the intake sensors
- Around twice the filtering surface of other performance elements, inside the unaltered airbox
- Direct replacement for the factory panel, with no cutting, no adaptor and no remap
- Cleaned with compressed air and refitted; two years of warranty from the date of purchase
When cost stops sorting a range
Most catalogues can be read straight down the price column, and most of the time that shortcut lands somewhere sensible. Here it lands nowhere. The two road-going media for the Bullet airbox are near enough level that a buyer choosing by the tag is choosing by noise. What separates them is published, specific and unrelated to money: one holds back more, the other passes more air, and neither is the improved version of the other.
Reading the pair of figures instead
Filtration at 14 microns is the reason to fit this element; a flow rating of 1,800 l/m²/sec against the 5,050 of the woven medium is what it costs to have it. That is a genuine reduction rather than a technicality, and it belongs in any fair description. Nor does any of it add power: a drop-in element does not make a standard 350 single noticeably stronger, whichever medium sits in the box. What changes is what gets past the filter and how steady the intake stays between services.
Care and cleaning
Compressed air on the clean face of the CM231P14, worked outwards, handles ordinary service. When the deposit is greasy rather than dry, lukewarm water with a mild detergent lifts what air will not, followed by a rinse until the water runs clear. Drying happens in open air and in its own time; heaters, hairdryers and flame all ruin the fabric. It returns to the box dry and untreated. The maintenance sheet is under Downloads.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the airbox fitted to the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 between 2023 and 2026. Sprint Filter puts the same element against four more machines in the family, namely the Classic 350, the Goan Classic 350, the Hunter 350 and the Meteor 350, so five in all. The Fitment tab carries the year spans.
