The CB1000F is a retro roadster whose revised camshafts and intake tuning move its delivery lower in the rev range; Honda quotes 122 hp at 9,000 rpm. The CB1000GT is a sports tourer with electronic suspension, built to cover distance with luggage. They are sold to opposite riders, and Sprint Filter lists one element for both. PM158S does not care which badge is on the tank. The only thing that should differ between the two is how often somebody takes it out and looks at it.

Key Features

Woven polyester used dry in a single layer: 80 µm rating, filaments from 22 µm thick

5,050 l/m²/sec of rated flow

Holds 93.13 % of 100-micron particles in Sprint Filter's comparison, where oiled four-layer cotton holds 76.42 %

About twice the working surface of a typical performance filter

Direct replacement for the paper panel in the standard airbox, with no modification and no remap

No oil, washable and reusable, warranted for two years from purchase

One element, two very different service lives

A service schedule is written for an average rider, and neither of these bikes has one. A CB1000F that does short runs in good weather collects very little in a season. A CB1000GT crossing a continent through road works and summer dust loads its element far faster. A paper panel is changed on the same mileage in both cases and is wrong in both: too early on one, too late on the other. A washable element lets the interval follow the air the motorcycle actually breathed — cover off, element out, an honest look at the cloth, and a clean when it needs one.

What it does and does not change

It does not add power. Honda set the CB1000F's output where it wanted it, and a filter swapped into the standard airbox does not move that figure; the same holds for the GT. What the P08 changes is how restriction behaves over time. A paper panel grows more restrictive with every kilometre until it is replaced, while this weave is cleaned back to its starting condition, and twice the filtering area means the same load lies thinner on the cloth. For a GT that tours through genuinely dusty regions, the P14 cut for this housing is worth considering instead: it filters far finer and gives up flow in return.

Care and cleaning

Compressed air from the clean side outwards takes care of most of what PM158S collects, pushing the dirt back out the way it entered. Sticky road film comes off in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinsed until the water runs clear. Air-dry it at room temperature, away from heat guns, radiators and flames, and refit it only once it is dry and untreated. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.

Fitment & Compatibility

For the Honda CB1000F and CB1000GT of 2025 and 2026, which share the element. The same code covers the CB1000 Hornet and Hornet SP of 2025 to 2026 and the CBR1000RR of 2017 to 2026, whose engine the whole family descends from; the Fitment tab lists all three entries.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/PM158S_34bd2865-e5d3-4c3a-b0bb-aaa78edaebdc.png?v=1789456131
