DescriptionThe whole story▼
Touring two-up is one of the reasons people choose the Aprilia Shiver 750 GT. The half fairing keeps the wind off the rider, there is room for a passenger, and luggage can travel on the back. Yet one of the most common tip-overs with two people aboard happens before the journey has even begun, when the passenger climbs on and the rider is not quite ready. Accossato's PP011 rear axle sliders, a black pair combining aluminium with plastic, are listed for the Shiver 750 GT from 2009 to 2016.
Key Features
- Rear axle sliders for the Aprilia Shiver 750 GT, 2009 to 2016
- Accossato rear fork protection PP011
- Two protectors, one per side
- Aluminium with plastic, black
- Accossato packs spacers, screws and all fitting parts
- May reduce damage to the swingarm and rear axle area in a tip-over
- Front sliders PF031 and TP052 pads available for the same bike
- No German ABE documented; for the track
Construction and Material Quality
Aluminium and plastic are combined in the PP011, and the two protectors in the pack are black. Accossato adds what is needed for mounting, from spacers and screws to the remaining small parts, so each side of the rear wheel can be equipped straight from the box. If the bike tips over, rear axle sliders should be first to touch down at the back, which may spare the swingarm and the rear axle area some of the damage. Once they are badly scarred, they are swapped for new ones rather than repaired.
When the Passenger Climbs On
A few habits make getting on and off with a passenger far safer. The rider mounts first, takes the bike off the side stand and holds it upright with both boots firmly on the ground and the front brake applied. Only then does the passenger climb aboard, using the pillion footrest and steadying themselves on the rider's shoulders rather than pulling on the luggage. Agree on a signal, such as a tap on the shoulder, so neither of you is surprised by the other's movement. Getting off works the same way in reverse: the rider stays seated and braced until the passenger is clear. With a loaded Shiver 750 GT, the extra weight high at the back makes the bike feel heavier at a standstill, so load it on level ground. Should it go over despite everything, look at the rear sliders, the pillion footrests and the luggage mounts before setting off.
Fitment and Compatibility
The PP011 appears in Accossato's catalogue for the Shiver 750 GT built between 2009 and 2016. We also list the same rear pair for the Shiver 750 and the Dorsoduro 1200. If you want protection at the front and at the sides as well, Accossato's range for this model includes the PF031 front axle sliders and TP052 pads. Before ordering, please compare your Shiver 750 GT with the application list.
Road Approval
The PP011 has no German ABE, and no test certificate is in our records. It is supplied for track use and competition.
Scope of Delivery
Two black PP011 rear sliders; spacers, screws and further mounting parts come in the kit, as Accossato states.
