DescriptionThe whole story▼
EV2 is the racing member of Accossato's pad family, and it is available on the AGPA58 plate that fits the front of the 2012 to 2015 Triumph Tiger Explorer, listed by Accossato as the Tiger 1200 Explorer. The item is aimed at a small group of owners: those who use their Explorer for circuit riding, perhaps in a club event or a timed session, and who need a pad made for repeated hard braking at high temperature. Everyday and touring riders will find better-suited options among the other compounds.
Key Features
- EV2 racing front pad AGPA58
- For the Triumph Tiger Explorer (Tiger 1200 Explorer), 2012 to 2015
- Accossato: a top racing compound
- For hard braking zones on circuit
- Two pads in the box for one front caliper
- OR, ST and EV1 versions also offered
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato labels EV2 simply as a top racing compound. It is intended for circuit use, where temperatures run high and braking is repeated at full force. The company, which today works from Villastellone near Turin, attributes slow wear, fade resistance through controlled heat and strong stopping power to its pads in general.
An Older Tourer on a Racetrack
Taking a first-generation Explorer onto a circuit is a project, not a whim. The bike's weight and age mean that the whole braking system needs attention before any serious track use: discs within their wear limit and free of warping, fresh high-quality fluid, caliper seals in good shape and pistons that move freely. Only then does a racing compound make sense. On track, it is designed to work at the high temperatures of repeated hard braking and to stay consistent through a session. In cold, slow road riding it may behave quite differently, so it is not a pad for the commute home. For a mix of road and occasional track use, EV1 is the more suitable choice.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists AGPA58 for the front of the Tiger Explorer from 2012 to 2015; the 2016 and 2017 bikes take AGPA177. With two front calipers, you need two boxes. At the rear, Accossato lists AGPA76. Fit both calipers together, bed the pads in completely and check that the lever is firm before each session.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE or test documentation for this pad in our files. It is sold for racing use.
