DescriptionThe whole story▼
Every FJR1300A is also moved by hand: pushed out of the garage, turned in a narrow driveway, rolled backwards into a hotel parking space. In those moments the front brake lever is the only brake you have, and you reach it from beside the bike rather than from the seat. The Accossato EDF016 is a CNC-machined brake lever for the FJR1300A of 2006 to 2018, mounted on the original master cylinder, whose reach can be brought close enough to grab from either position.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the FJR1300A, 2006 to 2018
- Replaces the stock lever on the original master cylinder
- Reach adjustable near the pivot
- Short, standard (about 138 mm) or long blade, depending on colour
- Solid aluminium, CNC-machined, anodised
- Black hub, blade in black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green
- Rigid from pivot to tip
- No German ABE documented, for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Starting from a solid aluminium blank, Accossato machines the EDF016 on CNC equipment and anodises it afterwards. The hub, black on every version, is where the lever pivots and where its reach is adjusted, while the blade is finished in the colour you choose. Anodising makes the aluminium surface harder and more resistant to corrosion than untreated metal, which suits a tourer that is ridden in all weathers and parked outdoors along the way. With no hinge along the blade, the lever is one rigid piece, and it responds the same way whether you squeeze it from the saddle or from beside the bike.
Moving a Heavy Tourer by Hand
Pushing a big tourer is easy on the flat and harder everywhere else. On a slope, or when the FJR1300A starts to roll a little faster than you intended, the only thing that stops it is the front brake, operated by a hand that is reaching across from beside the bike. From there the fingers meet the lever at a steeper angle than from the saddle, and a blade that feels right when riding can be surprisingly far away. Bringing the reach in a little helps, as long as the lever still suits you when riding. Two habits help as well: stand where your right hand holds the right grip naturally, and keep one or two fingers resting on the blade whenever the bike is rolling, so that you are already squeezing before it gathers speed. On a steep driveway, a second pair of hands is worth more than any lever.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF016 for the FJR1300A from 2006 to 2018 and splits that span into several versions: 2006 to 2011, 2012 and 2013, 2014 and 2015, and 2016 to 2018. For the clutch side, the ESY688 is listed for the FJR1300A of 2014 to 2016. Long blades are made in blue, gold, green and orange.
Road Approval
German road approval (ABE) is not documented for the EDF016. We offer it for track use.
