DescriptionThe whole story▼

The GSX-S1000 took the engine of the 2005 to 2008 GSX-R1000, retuned it for the road and put it in a naked bike with a wide handlebar and an upright seat. That recipe drew many riders who had spent years on sports bikes and wanted the engine without the crouch. Accossato lists its EDF035 brake lever for the GSX-S1000 from 2015 to 2021: a CNC-machined aluminium lever for the original master cylinder, with a reach you can adjust.

Key Features

  • Front brake lever for the Suzuki GSX-S1000, 2015 to 2021
  • Replaces the stock lever on the original master cylinder
  • Distance to the grip adjustable
  • Standard length approximately 138 mm; short and long in some colours
  • Aluminium, CNC-machined and anodised
  • Black hub, blade in one of seven colours
  • Fixed, non-folding design

Construction and Material Quality

The EDF035 is the same Accossato reference that is listed for several GSX-R models, which says something about the GSX-S1000's origins. It is milled from aluminium on CNC machines and then anodised: black on the hub, where the pivot and the reach adjuster sit, and your chosen colour on the blade. Because the colour is formed in the surface of the metal, it does not flake, even on a bike that is ridden right through the year. The blade is one fixed piece without a folding joint.

After Years on a GSX-R

Riders who move from a sports bike to the GSX-S1000 often bring their old lever setting with them, at least in their heads, and it rarely suits the new position. On clip-ons the hand approaches the lever from behind, with the wrist angled down and part of the upper body's weight on the palms. On the GSX-S1000's wide bar the hand sits higher and more on top of the grip, the wrist is flatter, and the fingers meet the blade at a different angle. A reach that felt natural in a crouch can feel too close or too far once you sit up. So start again from scratch. Sit on the bike in your riding gloves, let your arms settle naturally onto the bar, and move the EDF035 until the blade lies under the first joint of your fingers without the wrist bending. Then try a firm stop in a quiet street. Once the lever matches the new posture, braking feels as instinctive on the naked bike as it did on the old one.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the EDF035 for the GSX-S1000 from 2015 to 2021, mounted on the original master cylinder. The ESS035 clutch lever is listed for the GSX-S1000 from 2015 to 2020. For the faired GSX-S1000F, Accossato lists only a clutch lever, the ESS035, while the GSX-S1000 Katana has a brake lever listing of its own. Black and red blades are made in the standard length only; the short blade exists in blue, gold, green, orange and silver.

Road Approval

For this GSX-S1000 brake lever, no German ABE is documented; we therefore offer it for track use.
