DescriptionThe whole story▼

A lap of a circuit contains the same braking zones every time, and the aim on a track day is to meet each of them the same way: same marker, same pressure, same release. The Tuono V4 1100 RR, the naked V4 that grew out of Aprilia's superbike, is a familiar sight at such events. The Accossato EDF099 gives the RR of 2017 to 2021 a brake lever cut from solid aluminium, which uses the stock master cylinder and has a reach adjuster at the hub.

Key Features

  • Brake lever for the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 RR, 2017 to 2021
  • Attaches to the original front master cylinder
  • Reach adjustable near the pivot
  • Short blade for two-finger braking in five colours
  • Standard length approximately 138 mm, long blade in four colours
  • Anodised aluminium, black hub, coloured blade
  • One-piece fixed lever
  • No German ABE documented; for track use

Construction and Material Quality

Repeatability starts with the part itself. The EDF099 is cut on CNC machines from solid aluminium, so the blade keeps the same shape and wall thickness along its length, and it is a fixed lever: hub and blade are one piece, without a folding joint that could develop free play over a season of track days. After machining, the lever is anodised, the hub black and the blade in one of seven colours. The pivot and the reach adjuster sit in the hub, close to where the lever meets the master cylinder.

The Same Brake Point, Lap After Lap

Consistent braking on a circuit is built on reference points: a marker board, a change in the kerb, a patch of darker asphalt. Riders who improve quickly tend to change one thing at a time, and the lever should not be one of the variables. Set the reach once in the paddock, seated on the bike in your race gloves, then leave it alone for the day. Many track riders brake with two fingers so that the other two can keep the throttle steady; the short blade of the EDF099, available in blue, gold, green, orange and silver, is shaped for that grip, ending before it can trap the outer fingers. Between sessions, it is worth checking the lever on the Tuono V4 1100 RR with the bike on its stands. If the lever starts to come back further as the day goes on, the cause lies in the brake system, in the fluid or the pads, not in the lever, and it needs attention before the next session.

Fitment and Compatibility

For the RR, Accossato records the EDF099 under two names, Tuono 1100 V4 RR for 2017 to 2021 and a separate Tuono V4 1100 RR entry for 2019, which together give the 2017 to 2021 range. The lever replaces the original part on the bike's own master cylinder. Accossato's ESV04A covers the clutch side for the same RR years, so both levers can be set up in one blade colour or as a contrasting pair.

Road Approval

This brake lever carries no documented German ABE. Its intended use is the race track.
