Öhlins machines its pistons rather than sintering them, which is why the port edges stay sharp. Öhlins machines its pistons so the port edges stay sharp and the flow predictable. A worn piston band lets oil past the outside of the piston, which shows up as damping that has gone soft.

Original Öhlins Part

Öhlins supports units that are decades old, which is why the spare parts list runs to thousands of numbers. This is an original Öhlins part, not an aftermarket equivalent — the tolerances are the ones the unit was assembled to. Send us the model and serial number of your unit and we will confirm the position before you order. Order by part number. The dimensions below are the ones Öhlins publishes for it.

Getting the Number Right

The reliable route is the exploded drawing: find the position, read the number, order it — 06112-80 in this case. Öhlins states dimension a 12 mm, dimension b 250 mm for this number, and those figures are the deciding ones. Port area and shim seat geometry decide the damping curve before any adjuster is touched. Piston bands are consumables — they wear against the bore and lose their seal gradually.

Fitting and Setup Service

We are an authorised Öhlins service centre, so you do not have to source the tools and the nitrogen: send us the damper and we rebuild it with the correct parts and the correct setting.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 06112-80

Category: Pistons

Dimension A: 12 mm

Dimension B: 250 mm

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/06112-80_28fe816d-a674-45f4-b2db-2c3658b905a0.png?v=1788874896
