DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES 031 answers for the S1000RR's fuel level sender once a race tank without one is fitted.
Key Features
- BMW S1000RR (2009–2026)
- Answers for the fuel level sender
- No fuel warning on the instrument panel
- Plugs into BMW's own connector
- For a race tank with no sender
- Standard sender refits at any time
What the Sender Does
A float in the tank reports level to the instrument panel, which uses it for the gauge, the range calculation and the low fuel warning. It has no influence on how the engine runs.
Race Tanks Do Not Have One
A competition tank is a bare vessel with a filler, a pickup and mounting points. Nothing about it is designed to report anything to a dashboard.
What the Panel Does Then
An open circuit where a sender should be produces a permanent low fuel warning and a range display that reads nothing. Both are distractions at exactly the wrong moment.
Presenting a Value
The eliminator supplies a resistance the panel accepts, so the warning stays off and the display behaves. It does not report actual level and it does not pretend to.
Which Means Counting Laps
A rider on a race tank works out fuel from time and consumption rather than from a gauge. That is normal practice and it is worth saying plainly.
Why a Race Tank at All
Larger capacity for endurance, a lower profile for tucking in, and a filler that a churn can empty in seconds. None of that is available from a road tank.
A World Superbike Title
BMW took the riders' championship with the S1000RR in 2024, and the road bike underpins that programme. Race tanks for this model are widely available as a result.
One Connector
BMW's own plug at the tank, with no adapters and nothing spliced anywhere in the loom.
Reversible
Refit the standard tank and its sender, unplug the eliminator and the gauge works exactly as it did.
Track Use
A motorcycle without a working fuel gauge is legal on a road and unwise on one. This belongs on a bike that no longer sees public roads.
Endurance Racing
A larger tank and a quick filler exist because a stint is measured in hours rather than laps, and the S1000RR has been a fixture in endurance championships since it arrived. Race tanks for the model are widely available as a result.
