DescriptionThe whole story▼

If your SWM SM 500 R sees rain, cold mornings and the occasional weekend away with luggage, the rear brake has to cope with more than dry summer roads. Accossato lists rear pad AGPP80 for the 2018 to 2020 SM 500 R, and in its Sintered mixture this pad is aimed at riders who want the back brake to behave the same way in every season and in every kind of weather.

Key Features

  • Rear pad AGPP80 for SWM SM 500 R, model years 2018 to 2020
  • Sintered mixture, article number AGPP80ST
  • Accossato: high, constant grip hot or cold
  • Good bite on a wet disc
  • Stable pedal feel with extra load on board
  • For riders who do not park the bike in winter
  • OR and STMX also available

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato states that its Sintered compound keeps a high and constant grip whether the disc is hot or cold, and that it continues to grip well in wet conditions. At the rear of a supermoto this gives a pedal that stays predictable when spray from the front tyre lands on the disc. Accossato also mentions low wear, limited heat and fade, and strong stopping ability.

Weather, Luggage and a Passenger

Supermotos are not natural tourers, but some owners fit a tail bag and head for the hills anyway. With extra weight over the rear wheel the back brake gains importance, especially on descents where a light touch on the pedal settles the bike before the front brake takes over.

In the wet the rear disc sits directly in the spray path of the rear tyre. A compound that responds quickly on a wet surface avoids the moment of nothing that makes riders press harder than they meant to. Winter salt is another reason to rinse the caliper regularly and inspect the pads.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists AGPP80 for the rear caliper of the SWM SM 500 R built from 2018 to 2020, with AGPA112 at the front. Fit both rear pads together, clean the piston before pressing it back, and check the rear reservoir level afterwards. If the old pads wore unevenly, look at the slider and the piston seal before blaming the new set.

Road Approval

No ABE or German approval document for this pad is available to us. It is meant for closed-course and competition riding.

Scope of Delivery

Two Sintered pads for the rear caliper in one box.
