DescriptionThe whole story▼
This folding-lever 17x20 keeps the track-only pairing of a 17 mm piston, suited to callipers with mounting bolts 32 mm apart or closer, and the firmest 20 mm pivot distance in the range, a setting Accossato does not recommend for the street. The folding lever hinges back rather than snapping if struck, a useful trait in the paddock or pit lane where levers take more knocks, while the relieving eyelet, colour choice and matching adjusting knob carry over unchanged from the fixed-lever version.
Key Features
- 17 mm piston diameter, suggested for motorcycles with calliper mounting bolts 32 mm apart or less
- 20 mm fixed lever pivot distance, the firmest setting in the 17 mm range, not recommended for street use
- Folding lever, long version, with a relieving eyelet (RST)
- Lever supplied in a choice of colours, with a matching adjusting knob
- CNC-machined aluminium body with a natural anodised finish
- Offset riser that limits master cylinder flex under hard braking
- Passive lever stroke reduced by more than 50 percent versus a standard radial master cylinder
- Stainless steel mounting screws, zinced bleed valve and Formula 1 compound seals
Construction and Material Quality
This unit follows the same build as the rest of the 17 mm range: forged aluminium, CNC machined and natural anodised, made entirely in Italy. Stainless steel screws, a zinced bleed valve and seals of Formula 1 compound are fitted to withstand the heat and wear that repeated hard braking on track days brings. An offset riser built into the mounting clamp reduces bending under that load, and the bore and passages are shaped to keep the passive stroke well under half the length of a conventional radial master cylinder. Hoses connect through the M10x1 thread used across the Accossato range.
Folding Lever at the Sharpest 17 mm Setting
Braking behaviour is unchanged from the fixed-lever 17x20: the same 17 mm piston, suited to narrower calliper mounting patterns, and the same 20 mm pivot distance, the firmest setting in this bore size and one Accossato reserves for the track. The folding lever simply adds resilience against the knocks and drops that come with circuit use, hinging back instead of breaking. Riders who already prefer the short, direct stroke of the 20 mm pivot for track days can choose this version purely for the extra protection the folding design brings between sessions.
Fitment and Compatibility
This folding-lever unit carries no published vehicle list either; it is a universal 17 mm radial master cylinder for 22 mm handlebar clamps. Riders should confirm their own bar diameter, check that their brake system is designed around a 17 mm piston, and verify that the calliper's mounting bolts sit 32 mm apart or closer before ordering.
Road Approval
This master cylinder is not supplied with German road-approval documentation; it is intended for track and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
The package includes the Accossato 17x20 radial brake master cylinder fitted with the folding, long lever with relieving eyelet, in the colour selected, together with the matching mounting nut. Stainless steel mounting screws, the zinced bleed valve and the Formula 1 compound seals are assembled on the unit. The stop light switch, available separately as ID001 or ID002, and the fluid reservoir are not included and must be purchased separately.
