DescriptionThe whole story▼
A brisk ride on a Z1000 along a twisty road involves a lot of downshifting. Its inline four revs freely, and when the throttle closes on the way into a bend, a hurried downshift combined with a sudden release of the clutch can make the rear tyre chirp or hop just as the bike starts to lean. Accossato's ESK828, a machined aluminium clutch lever for the Z1000 listed from 2003 to 2020 and again for 2022 to 2024, has an adjustable reach that helps you release the clutch as smoothly as the situation needs.

Construction and Material Quality
Like the other Accossato levers in this range, the ESK828 is machined from aluminium on CNC equipment and then anodised. Its hub, the section with the pivot bore and the reach adjuster, is black on every version; the blade carries the colour. Because anodising turns the outer layer of the aluminium into a hard oxide rather than adding a coating, the colour stays put even on a naked bike whose levers are exposed to rain, sun and road grime. From hub to tip the blade is one rigid piece, so the friction point does not wander over time.
Downshifts Without Drama
Every downshift raises the engine speed needed for the road speed, and if the clutch is let out abruptly, the rear tyre has to spin the engine up to that speed in an instant. The result is a jolt through the drivetrain and, at worst, a rear wheel that hops or slides as the bike enters the corner. There are two ways to avoid it: a quick blip of the throttle to raise the revs before the clutch engages, or a smooth, progressive release that lets the engine catch up gradually. Both depend on precise clutch control, and precision depends on where the lever sits. With the reach of the ESK828 set so that your fingers work in their comfortable range, the release can be feathered over a fraction of a second instead of dumped. The standard blade suits most riders on the Z1000; the short one keeps two fingers on the lever for quick shifts, and the long one reduces the effort for riders who prefer the whole hand.
Fitment and Compatibility
The ESK828 reaches further back than the brake lever: its listing for the Z1000 runs from 2003 to 2020 and again for 2022 to 2024, which includes the very first Z1000 of 2003 as well as the later generations. It replaces the original lever at Kawasaki's clutch mounting. The EDF088 brake lever is the right-hand partner, listed from 2007 to 2020 and for 2022 to 2024.
Road Approval
We have no documented German ABE for the ESK828 and sell it for circuit use.
