Cut for a Scrambler Bar
Wide, flat and set high, with a cable run nothing else in the Ducati range shares. The mounting geometry here is drawn for that rather than adapted to it.
Bolts on One Axis
The aligned pattern, which is one of two. The clamp on the master cylinder decides which a particular motorcycle can accept and the handlebar is the only place to check.
Grip Without Marking
A machined clamp follows the tube exactly rather than pinching it at two points. On a Scrambler, where the bar finish is part of the look, not marking it matters.
Threads in Metal
Cut into aluminium rather than moulded into plastic. They take a proper torque and survive being undone, which on a bike people personalise constantly is worth having.
Standing Outside
Scramblers live on driveways rather than in heated garages. Moisture settling in a joint overnight does considerably more harm than any ride through rain.
Sealed Contacts
Enclosed within the machined body. There is no clipped cover to lose tension and no seam for water or grit to work along toward a terminal.
A Frame With Real Substance
The 1100's trellis is heavier and longer than the 800's and the whole motorcycle feels it. This is the Scrambler for riders who wanted the aesthetic without the sense of riding something slight.
Sport, Pro and Tribute
Ducati offered several distinct versions with different suspension, bars and colours. Personalisation has always been the Scrambler's commercial idea and the 1100 got the same treatment.
Nothing Will Follow It
Emissions rules have ended large air-cooled twins and no manufacturer is going to build another. The 1100 is the last of something rather than the latest of something.
